Who makes the best 7” tiller? I am going to give one a shot and I foresee it getting a lot of use. Definitely not looking for the cheapest and I don’t need a Cadillac either but I want a brute of a tiller that can stand up to a lot of acres.

Local auction has one or two monthly lately.
I picked up a ~6' wide one for my tractor a couple years ago and it's seriously built - probably chinese (no stickers on it) - paid $1000 including tax and auction fee for an "unused" (definitely no wear but it had been outside at least a couple years). I'd advise checking for auctions around you for similar.

Best? Kuhn or Howard, if you have a decent Howard dealer... That is, IF you want something that can take a beating and last a LONG time!

It takes a lot of power to run a 7' tiller "properly", hope you have a tractor that's up to it.

Thanks. What is a lot? 63 PTO enough?

7' tiller able to be used in all conditions will take more than 63 pto hp... Under ideal conditions with slower rotor speeds, it's just enough...

I like to speed the rotor up and use a bit higher ground speed, that means in most cases, you will be short on hp with a 7 footer.

Why a tiller and not disk? Just curious.
Less compaction with a tiller, less trips across the field, better mixing of the soil, soil warms up earlier in the planting season ect..

Maschio tillers are pretty stout..I would also look at woods.

The Maschio's with the bigger gear boxes are decent, I'd pass on Woods for this application...

If you look at the OP,s original post he states I don't want a Cadillac but NOT the cheapest so I think woods fits this application.
