Modifying a quick hitch

So how are y'all modifying the implements to fit your QH?

Most of my implements I can back up and latch with the lower links, but the top link always seems to require pulling the top pin, extending the top link and replacing the top pin.

Only 2, maybe 3 implements can I can back up and hook up without some manual convincing.

Cat 2 and 3 implements adhere to the quick hitch standards much better than Cat 1 implements. They are too heavy to move around by hand if you are 1/2 inch off.

Sometimes you can drill new holes. I have a magnetic drill which makes it easy. Other times you may need to cut and reweld the mounting tabs. It is a pain but you do it once and then have a lifetime of easy connections. I guess part of my strong opinion on this is coming from larger tractors. Everything on them is quick hitch. You aren’t wrestling around 5,000 lb implements. The concept of quick hitches not fitting is something I first encountered on smaller tractors.

I modify everything I already own and refuse to buy anything going forward that doesn’t fit.

I wish I could use the top hook, there isn't a position I can use on all my implements. I don't use the hook anymore just the pin on swivel adapter since it doesn't need tools to adjust.

I have a Lee Boss category 3N quick hitch. I believe Lee makes the best strongest quick hitches out there. They are over 1k new. I didn’t pay near that for mine I got it at an auction nearly ten years ago. Anyway I changed tractors and am going to all cat 2. Looking at the specs the lower hooks are identical on a cat 3N and a cat two the only difference is the top hook is 4” higher on a 3N than on a two. Any reason not to cut off the top hook and reweld it on 4” lower? View attachment 690614View attachment 690615
Not all equipment works with quick hitches, I use a shot piece chain at the top connection, easy to hook and un hook

I would look at an automotive type spring hanger shackle to extend the implement reach. drill a hole in the shackle and implement to keep it upright.

Weld or bolt some heavy steel to implement to lower the top connection point
