South Bend Chocolate factory occasionally has factory rejects in a large cardboard box. Their normal prices are around $19 a pound. The factory rejects are less than $3.00 a pound. They look funny, but taste great! I've eaten 3 of those boxes in the past 4 years, so over a hundred pounds. The boxes are usually 35-40 pounds. I've picked them up for as cheap as $20 and as much as $60 a box, but still, that's a great price. I split them up into quart zip lock bags and freeze them. Pull a bag out every week or two and om nom nom!! 😛

Quit cigarettes with difficulty at 2 packs/day- mid 1980's. Started keeping a few cigars in my tackle box, just for when I was fishing. Soon enough, started smoking cigars whenever I was THINKING about fishing, which was most of the time. Finally shook the cigars too, for good. Fast forward to a fishing trip 30 years later-

My buddy, who smokes cigars, had drunk all his beer and I offered to split my last can with him. He took a swig and then I took a swig and then I told him I'd had enough and to just kill it. Truth was, that partial beer was like licking the bottom of an ashtray after his turn... Which made me wonder about all the non-smoker women I've dated and how unpleasant that cigar taste must have been for them. And probably the cigarette taste too.

Doctor told me..."No more caffeine...only decaf coffee, Pepsi free and...get this...NO MORE CHOCOLATE!"
Thanks for THAT!
I guess I may be going to my grave soon!

I do have heart palpitations!
Especially when I see naked photos of Melania!
I have Afib, but no Dr. has ever suggested not eating chocolate.

I smoked unfiltered Camels for many years. Then the darn things went to $0.55 a pack in the vending machines. I quit smoking, cold turkey, in '76. No serious side effects from quitting. I took up chewing Copenhagen in about 2005. I've quit three times since 2005.

I've found it 10X harder to quit chewing than I did quitting smoking. I'll go cold turkey for a couple years. Then the urge hits like a freight train and I'm back chewing again.

Coffee doesn't affect me a bit, I'm not particularly sensitive to caffeine.
Theobromine, however - which is found in cocoa - that stuff's to me like caffiene is to a kid.
Last year I was having some stress issues (I mean, lots of people were, but mine had nothing to do with covid or society's response to covid) and the chocolate wasn't helping this flutter I felt in my chest.
Cardio said the flutter wasn't heart; I think it was (and occasionally still is) a diaphragmatic flutter - since heart was ruled out interestingly enough I've had a lot less of that symptom.

I'll die before I completely give up chocolate!

I do not believe that (coffee) caffeine is simply a "vice".
It is actually a drug!
I don't think I'm letting out any trade secrets where if you attend AA, pretty much everyone smokes or drinks coffee.

The question becomes which drug has the least detrimental affects on your life overall.

I'll generally have 2 cups of coffee before 0600 to get the day going.

I have had minor heart palpitations all my life; and about 30 years ago, I was listening to my radio on the way to work, and some doctor was taking questions from listeners. To make a long story short, he said that before taking meds, you should try using sea salt (Iodized) instead of regular salt. I did, and didn't have another palpitation for 20 or so years.
