my brother had great fun on his first ride of his new/1966 toy:
It’s a beast. It shakes rattles and rolls. It gulps gas, it is very loud.
Exactly what he was looking for. He has new radial tires on order so he can take off
the white walls which are actually a rather unattractive period correct orange, bias ply tire.
Should have a lot more grip with radials.
He was fully amused by the little opening vent windows.

Toppop, hopefully someone at some point has rebuilt that motor. Have the brakes been updated?...dual master cylinder, disc brakes up front, etc.
Paul, a supercharged Hawk was the cream of the crop back then, one of Mr Loewy's beautiful cars. Your Dad was surely a car guy.

I’ll certainly check it over good. I’ve owned north if 140 vehicles since I was 16, you pick up a natural nose for problems. At his price if the brakes need upgrading I don’t mind.
Not buying it for a distance cruiser, just shows and cruises within fifty miles or so. I can’t imagine it’s a comfortable long distance cruiser. I’m more attracted to the uniqueness. I’ve never owned a Studebaker, had a Rambler Marlin though.

Good Morning
It’s 49, high of 67 forecast.
Overcast, but clearing later. Rain tomorrow.

Got two speakers shipped yesterday, we decided to postpone electrical work at the restaurant until Sunday morning while they are closed. Spent some quality time with a bass, polishing songs for a recording session tomorrow.

This morning I’ve got an unscheduled trip to Newport News. It’s easier to do it myself than to round up a crew on short notice, I should be done by noon.

Randy, I hope that it goes well with the Champ, it really looks cool. My parents had Studebakers when I was a kid. My dad had a Hawk with a supercharger, and my mom had a wagon with overdrive.

I always liked the Hawks and Grand Turismo, this would strictly be a toy.

Toppop, if you don't already have a truck, that would make a very cool one. Probably pretty simple to work on.
Only challenge with older cars is no a/c and no airbags.

It would just be a toy, I drive a Hemi Ram crew cab as my daily.

Good morning All.

I have not posted anything this week. We’ve been busy with a project here at the year round place.

Just a couple more weeks before we head north to open the camp for the year. The ice is already out on the lake, but we are waiting until after our 2nd Covid shot.

Hope everyone has a great weekend !

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High near 80F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Still no rain in the 10-day. None in the WU monthly calendar, either. I went out all the way to July.:(

Cool car, Randy. Or is it a truck? Hope it meets expectations.

Classic case of telling you what you want to hear, instead of giving you what you paid for, Paul. I'd have been tempted to go back and speak with the manager. That employee deserves to be fired.

When you mentioned the DW controls, at first I didn't think that would be a good idea. But then when I have to bend over and squint to see the fine print on the poorly lit front of the door on the one here, I think on top would be better.

My buddy in Washington state is still very enthusiastic about his Starlink hookup. If they don't over subscribe it and can maintain bandwidth, it's gonna be a real game changer for rural internet. Speaking of which, rural internet has been one of the talking points in the new administration's infrastructure plan, so I wonder what they have in mind. Discounted high earth orbit satellite internet didn't cut it in the Obama years...

Welcome, Danica. Sounds like a heck of a snowblower!

What ever happened to your land plane project, RS?

manzanitaPallet.jpg

Didn't seem like I got much done yesterday, just filling up the other half of a pallet. Sure burned a lot of manzanita sticks, though, going through better than half the pile. Used the porta-band saw to cut off two inches of width on the last pair of pallets so the shipping container door will close. That is one handy saw.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Mostly, prays for your wife. Hope they find the issue.

Gotta run to Costco for tire appointment, 93k miles on my originals. Course I ordered new tires right before the $150 off sale.

Rainy overcast day.

Wow, lovely morning! 54 degrees, going up to 70, not a cloud in the sky! The ice is off of our bay, and the lake is getting close to summer levels already. (Our lake level varies by over 4 ft. over the course of the year, mostly in the later fall, winter, and early spring as it fills up.)

Going to try scraping and painting the (50') boathouse trim today. Have to do it before the boat traffic starts, because we use the floating docks to stand on to get access from the water. (Don't need anyone making waves during our work.)

3 weeks today since I received my first dose of AstraZaneca, and I just heard on the news that they may start mixing the first and second shots so, for example, you can get AstraZeneca for the first shot, and maybe Pfizer for the second! I am no virologist, but this idea sounds great to me, and I will be happy to volunteer!

Have a great day everyone!

remember when 22's used to be called "dubs" because they were the biggest tires anyone thought
could rationally be put on a car, and back when they were pretty outlandish.
once you get below 50 series tires you almost have to have air suspension to calm down the ride.
I'd be quite happy with a 55 or 60 series tire.

they package the nicest models with some unwanted features at times. The seats in my audi are Recaros and are
way too hard for me. Orthopedically perfect but just too hard. Whereas the less expensive model had much more comfortable seats to me.
And while many of us would like cloth seats, hard to find other than on bottom line models. So if I want cloth seats I can't have a heated steering wheel, or
something like that. I like the old wool mohair bench seats. Perhaps a modern version of that.

Buppies, your wife's car is very highly rated, must ride very nicely and feel good inside

brought back another couple of flats of flowers to plant in beds around house. Want to get most of this planting done before
rains come tonight and tomorrow. Landscapers coming next week to put down new mulch in beds, so I want the flowers planted by then.
Also bought some parsley plants and spring peas. My peas are just starting to peek out, figured I'd jump start them
with a store bought plant. For 2.99 it was worth the try. Fresh picked steamed snow peas are just awesome. I like them cooked well enough they
just start to turn sweet. Healthy green and sweet. All good and lots of fiber.

funny how the "good post" scoring is going, Buckeye and Toppop seem to be in the lead.

I hope Ron is doing ok.

Good afternoon, sloppy snow has been falling for most of the day, very cosy here in the workshop with the woodburner going.

Eric is the depiction of the characters how people in the UK view the royal family
Don I haven't watched "the crown". My wife says younger people tend to believe it is all factual, while older ones are more inclined to believe there has been some embellishment to make a better story.

Mostly, hope the cardiologist meeting goes well for your wife on Monday.

Thomas, you would be great at the rehab job.

Eric-gate looks good- do you buy or build these?

Our neighborhood is looking for ways to reduce the deer population. There is no shooting or hunting so it has to be creative
Try grazing a flock of sheep. Most species of deer make great use of scent as their early warning system for predators. That is much more difficult for them when sheep are around, so if they have the choice, they will tend to go elsewhere.

If residents don't want sheep and are looking for some fun too, then maybe you could enlist the help of those who like drones :-
First the intelligence gathering, using drones with thermal cameras to discover where the deer like to hide out.
Next comes the bombing mission ( without explosives - or Agent Orange !). If you can handle the import paperwork, I can supply weapons grade desiccated sheep poo for a lot less than what they are spending at the moment. Re-hydrate prior to loading onto drones, then drop payload onto deer in dawn raids.
:)

72F and fair @ 11:30, headed up to a high of 81F for the day, but with increasing clouds. If the high temp exceeds that, it will break the previous record of 81F which was set in 1945 ... otherwise a tie.

More rain moving in tonight, with chances again on Sunday/Monday. That and the cooler temps should really get the grass going. Did not get the MMM taken off yesterday, and given the likelihood of rain (and rapidly growing grass) I think I'll just go ahead and leave it on for now.

Red-bellied out on the suet feeder this morning. Heard him calling before I saw him. More of the white daffodils blooming. And the magnolia is about to really start blooming.

Got about half of that planting bed where the lily splits are weeded yesterday ... pretty slow going as the weeds are very dense, the splits are not all that big, and I'm trying to be careful that I'm not getting the lilies with the weeds. The lilies are looking pretty good though.

Got the 6th box of white worms fed and all the bread products I had dried out ground up for food. Possibly enough for a couple of months or so, depending how many worms I harvest and feed to the fish. Still need to check out the freezer and see if there are any more old bread products that can be donated to the cause.

Fed more banana worms to the Julie fry yesterday who really seem to go for them. They are pretty tiny (1/16th of inch or less) and only live for around 35 days, so I need to be thinking about making up some additional containers to start some new cultures in.

Verified hubs were not ordered from Surplus Center on last order so will order those here in a couple of minutes, once I verify the bolt circle size.

Did not get barn owl box sanded yesterday, so that will be high on the list for today, then probably finish up weeding on that planting bed.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)
