Who Holds The Third Spot?

Somewhat dated material from Messick's:

"Everyone seems to be dying to see real numbers behind who the leaders in the compact tractor business are. I read this today in an industry article.

According to UCC filings, through the first 11 months of 2016 Kubota held a market share of nearly 47% in the tractor ranges up to 80 horsepower. Deere was a distant second with 19% "

Okay.

Who was 3rd?

As of this morning, Deere's Market Captialization is 116.24 Billion Dollars.

Kubota's is 28.52 Billion

Which means Deere is over 4 times bigger than Kubota. That's a lot

As an aside, GM's market cap is 82.45 Billion.

Deere is huge. They are a gigantic company with HUGE profits.

But, IMO, they see their future as being the leader in electronics, electric, even driverless tractors and heavy equipment. They don't seem to be interested in smaller, under 80 HP Tractors.

With a P/E Ratio of around 35, people who make their bets with money seem to think Deere is a market leader in a big way. I'm not so sure. For now, maybe, but I think ignoring the small tractor segment is dangerous.

And, IMO, they are.

But...... They're a smart company. Very smart. I just think that people who are looking for an under-80HP Tractor should be aware of where their money is going. Deere makes good stuff, very good. Some of the very best in every size group but....... They're awful proud of it.

In my area, it would be Mahindra for under 60 hp tractors.
Nationwide?
Mahindra?
Good advertising hype, but ...really?

I'm interested in Mahindra but Dealers are few and far between. And many of them sell lawn mowers as their primary business and have couple of SCUT or CUT tractors sitting around the lot.

I gotta drive over a 100 miles into Indiana to find a decent sized Mahindra Dealer. And my little, tiny hobby farm is in Michigan between Lansing and Grand Rapids! A major farming center. Major.

Deere? You can't drive five minutes in any direction without running into a Deere Dealership.

I think the problem where I am is, most of the tractor buyers in my area are serious Tractor buyers. They have 1,000 - 1,500 Acres minimum to take care of. They ain't looking for a 1635 Mahindra or a LX3310.

I'd think that this trend needed to be more specific.
Retail brands? vs manufactures?

Many retail brands actually are made offshore by 3rd parties.
I suspect Kubota is the only 'pure' manufacturer, that other than their many attachments that come from varied suppliers.

Deere is Huge. AGCO is Huge. I think the OP was asking about the US CUT/SCUT market. I think it's very likely that Kubota is king here followed by Deere. Market share drops off significantly after that. The mushy third is likely New Holland (& Case/IH), Kioti or Mahindra. LS is an up and commer, and Massey Ferguson is meh.

In my country, the top 5 up to 52HP in 2020 was:

1- Kioti
2- Kubota
3- NH
4- LS
5- SAME

The European brands, like SAME, Lamborghini, Landini, Hurlimann, Deutz, etc definitely took a hit up to 52HP with the Korean brands popping up with a much more competitive prices and offering features standard that otherwise would have to be paid big money on the bigger names.

Above 52HP:

1- NH
2- Deutz
3- Kubota
4- JD
5- SAME

This list will vary slightly on the rest of countries in Europe.

So, part of a statistical problem could be that LS makes most of the NH <50HP .... so doesn't manufacturer come into play? That would make LS bigger.....oh, LS also makes the smaller Case/IH tractors too.

....mmmm, 3 tractor brands all made by one manufacturer and rebranded. I think that is a larger market share....

Also, TYM.... making RK tractors, Branson, and now the new Bad Boy tractors.... another market share....

Bad Boy tractors are made by Kukje (Branson parent company) and yes TYM bought Kukje, mostly for the Kukje/Cummins engines, although, Kukje still works pretty much as a standalone company. They do make tractors for Mccormick, Shibaura and other that I'm not remembering right now.
