We were home to central SD and I asked a few questions to my family member's who farm. My bro-in-law has three of these X9 series combines as seen below. They also bring in a contract harvester, so they will have have another 5 or more machines to help. They operate 24/7 until its done. They grow black sunflowers, various wheat's, corn and other small grains. I listed those most to least.

These machines are really, really big.

I tried asking what acreage they are doing today but didn't get the chance, but it seems it has gone up over the past 15 years. We were there for my dads 90th B-day and he's not doing very well so we had distractions. I'd guess today its something well over 30,000.
