Good morning!!!!

Good morning, a bit dull and wet but at least no lightning, I may be able to get the fly rod out later.

Eric, I see Ron is causing us to up our game on pictures!
Ken, we can try, although when it comes to taking pics I am only an opportunist snap shooter. Ron is in a whole different league, as he's showed us again this morning !

Eric, do owls prey on ravens at night? Maybe you could get the owl box plans from Drew.

Chris
Chris, I don't think we have any owls big enough, or stupid enough, to take on a fully grown raven.

Eric, what is the market use for the carp?

Over the last couple of decades most stillwater commercial fisheries in the UK have been stuffed with carp as many fishermen think bigger is better (that's not my thing, but each to their own). There are often competitions for who can catch the heaviest total amount of fish . There is also another market not talked about so often - many people originally from Eastern Europe eat carp in preference to almost all other fish.

this is 21 minutes long but worth coming back to. Happened yesterday near Denver as two small
planes tried to land at the same time on parallel twin runways. Mid-air crash, no one injured, a miracle,
and the first I've seen of the Cirrus parachute system bringing their plane down to the ground.
I thought one needed one's neck on a swivel driving a big truck but I think that is an understatement for
two planes on visual landing competing for the same airspace. What makes this all the more amazing is a student pilot
on his very first solo flight witnessed the whole thing and recorded it on his Gopro.

I think that parachute system has a lot of merit. Too bad they can't build it into a big jet...

Popgadget, beware of parallel runways. Reminds me of going into a roundabout and for sure not trusting the other guy
to yield

does make me wonder why collision avoidance radar buzzers aren't going off like mad but apparently not.
Not too surprised the small aircraft got to the ground, but I am amazed the jet got down safely, considering the damage!

Another cool morning, 41 early headed to 71.

I need to finish spraying and mow again.

Going to breakfast with my friends this morning. We restarted last month but I was in the hospital.
I hope they have their good coffee today.

Yesterday was a do nothing day, Ellen got some plants in the ground and ran the trimmer while I supervised from the deck.

Got to finish the order for our two projects. Everyone is out of everything! I needed 5 items, Lowe’s had 1. I’ll have to get on that today.
Texas Whitestone will be delivered tomorrow. I’ve got to spray the grass and get fabric down.

Prayers for all of us!

Carp-in-a-bath

Never heard that story of the Carp-in-a-bath before, but I can sure tell you that I've eaten a lot of carp in both Texas and Oklahoma in my life. Some say they don't want carp because it's a bottom feeder. Well, so is the catfish that's so popular. Some say they don't like it because of the little bones. Well, salmon has little bones. I have not eaten carp from dirty/sewer water, but from the lakes, rivers, and streams they are very good eating.

Good morning, 42 low and 66 high.Wind N 6 mph. Sunny!

I'm going to have to wait for Saturdays' draw. Got nothing last night. :( I play the same numbers for all draws.

Amazing that no one was killed in the mid-air collision. The metro-liner airplane is a tank. When I was flying home from Thunder Bay,ON regularly it was a metro-liner 3 that Bearskin Air used. No assigned seating in those days and I always went to the very back of the plane.

The grass didn't get cut. On the second pass I bent a blade and cooked the belt. Its gonna cost me about $125.oo to fix it. It will take a week to get the parts in and I don't have a week.
This wouldn't be the first summer that the grass didn't get cut, so it is no big deal. Junior might cut the front, but he will not cut the back or the field.

On a positive note, my radishes have leaves popping out of the dirt. If it is a rainy start to the season I might get home to sample them.

Got the firewood ordered yesterday to be delivered in September. 4 bush cords.

Nice picture of the hawk, I guess he/she is shopping for the next meal.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!!!! 69F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High around 95F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

The headlines this morning are full of news about inflation and gas shortages. A flashback to the '70s and Nixon/Carter. Stock market not happy with the news, but those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.

Took another shot at cutting grass in the lower meadow yesterday, but didn't get very far. Grass was just too slippery to get up the hill pulling the mower. Need to get the string trimmer going and go after it.

I laid a garden hose out before I mowed, about 200' worth. When I charged it, I learned that the valve on that spigot needs repacked. Took the side-by-side down the hill when I was done to pick it up. I got the big coil about half way into the dump bed when the cart took off down hill, somehow the parking brake had failed. Managed to jump in but landed backwards, but was still able to stomp on the brake looking for it back over my shoulder. Didn't need that kind of excitement.

Took the hose to the burn pile, got it laid out, and a couple grapple full bites of brush put on the burn area. It really took off when I hit it with the weed burner, and I had to use the hose to keep the flames from throwing sparks. That went on for another few grapples full, but then it was time to burn the leafy branches and pine boughs. Threw on a piece of pine, and all sorts of ember came up out of the fire. The leaves were worse. So that was it for burning. Even though the wind was blowing at a light 5 MPH, I felt like I was knocking embers out of the sky with the hose like a trap shooter. And with so many wildfires already going on close to home, stopping the burn was the right thing to do. That pile is ugly, but I'll get used to it.

By then it was lunch time and the temperature had crested 90F, with humidity down in the teens. Spent the rest of the day inside, doing a little reading on some network changes that will be needed when/if Starlink ever sends me a Dishy. By dinner time the inside of the house was up to 88F and it was time to turn on the A/C for the first time this year. It worked fine, fortunately, but I should change the filter.

Town trip this afternoon, maybe work on the string trimmer this morning.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Yesterday's mail brought a closing statement from T-Mobile, and they want fifty bucks, again, for what was supposed to be a free trial. So it looks like I need to sift trough all the previous correspondence and see if I can dig up the number for the last idiot I spoke with there that assured me they had it all "taken care of". With all the time I've spent waiting on hold to talk to someone, and all the email I've sent trying to explain the problem, I've probably spent twenty hours on this so far. At $125/hour for my time, maybe I should file suit in small claims court and turn the tables on them by turning a collection agency loose on them.

Good morning! Cloudy, 58˚F. Took the above pic during our walk yesterday. Since I can't compete with Ron in the quality category I had to make up a category - "Pics That Rhyme".

I got a chuckle out of this story - panic buying affecting Austin. Only a headline to grab attention. In the story all gas stations have fuel, but I bet today there will be lines. Close call Wngsprd.

RNG, I'm having the same problem with AT&T - on the phone for hours just to get transferred the another person that offers no help. So Today I'm going to the AT&T store at least I'll be able to see the person.
