Would you buy a 54" or 60" deck?

If you love cutting grass get the smaller.

I don't think there's enough difference to get excited about on 2 acres. I'd pay more attention to which engine is on the unit.

Kawasaki is the engine I'd recommend. The others are okay but Kawasaki kinda rules.
I agree. Go for dealer reputation and get a Kawasaki engine.

From my experience mowing around trees, it's easier and more precise to use a 54" deck. If you have just minimal trees and level ground, this shouts loud for the 60" deck. However, even with a 54" deck, you may still have to come back and mow around each tree with a typical 21" push mower, followed by a trimmer to achieve a close cut around that tree.

I ordered a Bad Boy ZT with 54" deck and Kawasaki engine. Have been told the Kawasaki plant is backed up so no idea when I will get the unit. Dealer tried talking me into a 60" with Kohler he has in stock but I will wait.

His last delivery was 22 machines and they were all sold in a day.

The Kohlers are really good engines. Don't be hesitant about that if they get a 54" deck in.

And the Yamaha engine is a good one if you're getting one of the bigger mowers that offer them. Was talking to my dealer a week ago about the shortage of mowers due to engines. He said they are still getting units with the Yamaha engine. Which works good for him, because that is the typical engine he gets on the Rogues. That's what mine has.

He was also lamenting the lack of inventory since the ~40 he got in back in March went pretty fast. He sells more Mavericks than the larger ones and they don't come with the Yamaha engines.

IF you liked the old Robin engines, you will like the Yamaha's, as that's what they really are...

I would choose the Kawasaki over the Kohler or the Robin...

Kohler, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, all are good.

Since the landmark mower engine HP class action, Kawasaki deliberately underrates by 2 HP.

Bigger question is carburetor vs fuel injection.

Carburetors are not frightening. FI promises better running year round, better fuel economy.

Prior to researching zero-turns I wasn't aware that Yamaha was into the small engine market for things like power equipment. But I've paid close attention to Yamaha in the powersports world for decades (and also audio equipment) and they have a very solid reputation for good design and reliability there so I figure they probably also do well here. My Bad Boy dealer only orders the Rogue and other models that come with Yamahas with Yamahas. Possibly because he's also a Yamaha powersports dealer. I guess time will tell. I have nothing against the other brands either though.
