Tracks pulled up.

I was stopped at the local tracks so I counted: 3 lead power units, 110 cars, 1 DPU, 61 cars. Pretty common through here, I guess I didn't realize how many cars these guys were moving in a single train. Impressive!
We get stopped by container trains out on Mayflower by the bypass fairly often, or out on Pine Rd near Ardmore. 200+ double stacked, so 400+ containers, are frequent. If you ever look at those container cars, they are 5 cars in 1 unit. Pretty impressive stuff.

Sucks to hear that. New York is such a mess. Was such a great state and could be again with new leadership and Albanys corruption cleaned up.
We aren’t much better in my area, but the local RR has been adding a little track here and there and improving existing track conditions. Freight continues to move.
We also got about 10 miles of new commuter rail restored after 30 years of being shut down and a gleaming new rail station one town over from me.
Looks beautiful. $177 million dollars.

The abandoned track (below) actually originated from a spur right behind the new train station under construction (above). It was 1 of 3 freight lines that ran into my little home town until 1973. The other 2 are still in very active service. Would be amazing to see them return to service. Some of the most beautiful scenery, little iron bridges, streams, etc.

Some have 5 cars in a unit, and some have 3 cars in a unit. Not sure why, but I've never seen a 2 or 4 car unit.
It's hard for me to imagine that they can move that many cars without pulling a knuckle in two. And another thing is what is the delay time in seconds for a brake pipe pressure change to propagate through over two miles of pipe from the locomotive to the last car.

Very little delay with an end of train unit or Fred as it is constantly monitoring BP pressure and can initiate an emergency app from the tail end

These are the ones that fascinate me.

Triple Crown trains.

We see them quite often down around Logansport, IN.

I've only ever seen a couple of those, but never around here. I always thought that system was more labor intensive and expensive than just plopping them on TOFC cars.

Those trailers would have to be awfully heavy with the hitch in the front, mounts for the truck in the back and the strength to withstand the drawbar pull.

I get the idea, merge a train and a truck together, but man that looks “delicate”
Good video. Never saw those in my area
