The tractor turns over when key is turned, but only starts every once in a while. It will start quickly when it starts.
Removed the solenoid switch and it fires right up every time. Ordered new replacement solenoid switch and it won’t start.

what am I misding? Fuse? Ignition fuse to solenoid somewhere?

Check the Ignition switch. We had to replace it with one from NAPA on our TC45 The OEM is chap plastic and melts.

Can you clarify a couple of things...

What are you removing? The starter solenoid is part of the starter & if it was bad the engine would not even turn over at all, (if you removed it you would have removed the starter also).

So need to know the part you removed / replaced?

Also when you say... "When it’s out…..it cranks…..every time. If it’s installed it turns over but won’t start." When "it's" out the tractor is starting & running or still just cranking....

On the block near where the fuel pump is a switch. I believe it’s called the furl cutoff switch. It has a plunger on one end and a wire connection on the other. So when ignition key is turn on, the plunger is supposed to be pulled in to allow fuel to flow to high pressure side to cylinders.

when fuel shut off switch is removed, tractor starts fine but have to insert plug in block to turn tractor off.

bought new shut off switch and tractor will spin, but gets no fuel to high side cylinders.

Could it be that this relay is bad?

A relay could also not be working. Some of the relays maybe the same on your tractor and you could possibly swap one that is not critical for starting to confirm. Also, these relays are fairly common and can be obtained at a local auto parts store such as NAPA for considerable less cost than a tractor dealer.

Let us know what you find out.

If your Relay layout looks like this.... Check to see if Relay #4 is working.... You can swap it with a like relay to test.... Napa & alike can also cross reference...

It was the relay. We swapped one out and it started right up.I’ll go to parts store snd buy one. Thanks so much for everyone’s support.
