Should I cab or not. Getting ready to buy

I think I will cover up the outside air vents so the
system will stay clean. Cheap way to keep air vents
clear as I don't want outside air in the cab! Too much
blowing dust etc.

Bad idea. Cabs have intake filters and blocking them will negate the concept of a pressurized cab. No positive cab pressure means dust and dirt gets in every crack, crevice, door and window seam. You will actually end up with a dirtier cab by blocking the intakes than if you leave them alone. Intake filters are always superior to what pass for recirculating filters.

Window tint (what you refer to as sunscreen goes on the INSIDE of the glass, not the OUTSIDE. Know more than a few cabin owners that do just that actually.

When I'm running hay and there is chaff, I keep my ac on recirc and the outside cab filters closed. The ac works much less than when cooling outside drawn air when it's hot outside. SOP for me.

Sounds more like chronically poor maintenance of his entire fleet. Odds are when you have two out of three tractors out of service and the third has problems it's because you ignored their needs.
He has some new hired hands, and said that one of them left the key in the on position overnight, which killed the battery on his other big tractor. I am not sure what caused the flat tire on his other, medium sized, loader- equipped 4wd. That one would have struggled to pull the bigger one out of the mud because it is about half the weight.

I saw him with a disk behind the big cabbed tractor with the broken AC just after sunrise this morning. Hopefully, he was able to get his work done before the sun got too high and baked him in that "roaster".

I was able to get about half of my corn planted this morning (with my open station tractor) before a big rain hit, and it wasnt bad at all out there this morning.

The fresh air outside sure was nice after being cooped up in a stuffy factory all week. That is the main reason that you couldn't pay me to own a cabbed tractor. Plus I dont want to risk getting baked, disoriented, and driving into a mud hole like just happened to my nieghbor.

Actually, I work a lot of the time with the side windows open and ac unit off if its not too hot outside. Cab stays nice. I can also open the rear window if need be.

Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking that putting the
film on the outside would keep the hot rays of the sun
off the glass. Sure don't want any outside air in the cab
I just walk outside and it don't take long and start sneezing.

I talked with my nieghbor this morning at church, about his air conditioner trouble. He made an appointment for the dealer to come out and look at it on Monday. The minimum charge for a service call is $ 200. I will keep following and see what the total cost of the repair turns out to be.

A buddy who is an auto mechanic, helped him out with the first repair attempt, a couple weeks ago. They added some coolant then, but it only lasted an hour. The dealer might add some dye, and come back later. I will guess that he is looking at about $ 939.23 total for the repair.

He also said how nice that AC cab was, during hay season last year. In addition to the heat, he also complained about the dust he had to deal with disking yesterday, running with the widows open.

I didn't notice any dust at all, while planting yesterday, but I suppose that implement does not stir up nearly as much. With my open station tractors, I always like to disk or cultivate early in the morning, or after we get a little rain, to keep the dust down.

I had my mechanic replace the compressor on my 1994 Dodge Ram truck for under $300.
