My FEL always leaked down and I just lived with it.
BUT, I recently needed to repair the linkage for my front crankshaft driven pump.
In the process of the linkage repair I decided to replace the pump shaft seal as looked nasty plus the shaft was rusty.
I polished the shaft and installed a new seal, actually 2 using the old one as an outer 'crud stopper' as there was available space.
Following that service/repair I left the FEL in raised position as I had more service to complete.
To my surprise the FEL remained elevated overnight and later as a final test it was still elevated a week later.
While I always believed the culprit was my valves I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a $20. pump seal was the cure.
