Northern Tool?

I bought a 12v pump oil extractor. Used it on hot oil and ruined the seals. Think they say not to use it on oil hotter than 190 F. They refunded my money.

I've actually bought another one of these Ironton pumps when my old DR oil extractor broke. I'll just be careful and not use it on hot oil. Works good on moving diesel, too.

Bought another DR oil extractor, too.

This is news to me but I just discovered Northern tool when I ordered a Kubota tractor seat from them. Duh on my part. The catalog looks great and the buying experience, if you call it that, was pleasant. They do have a lot of HF looking stuff but also some real quality name brand things. HF used to do that. Is Northern Tool the old Northern Hydraulics? Is this place taking over where HF leaves off?

Are you happy dealing with them? Good experience or not? What are the best things they sell? The worst? Anything else?
Hey sixdogs! I bought a 3 point 25 ton log spliter from them 22 years ago & it has been great so far without any problems & this year will be replacing the lines for the 1st time ;) , They no longer offer a 25 ton only a 22 ton & I'll get the lines made at NAPA. I still shop online to compare prices. I just don't want to drive 42 miles to there store to save a few$$$$ But there service always seems to be good(y) IMG_20201203_160905.jpgas well as there products.

You been under a rock? I think they changed the name from Northern Hydraulics to Northern Tool 15-20 years ago. Until recently they've been (IMO) a middle ground between Harbor Freight and Sears and the other big box stores in terms of price and quality. But HF has been putting out and better and better quality while the big guys have been getting worse and worse. I don't think there is much difference anymore in quality no matter where you buy or what brand (with a few exceptions). Northern is a fine place, decent prices, and I have no complaints, but usually I can find an equivalent product at HF for cheaper. I still shop there but not as much as I once did. They have some niche things other places don't (trailer parts, etc.) And they sell gas powered equipment with Honda motors.

I bought a 16 gallon spray tank for mounting in the bed of my UTV from them this spring. Was made for an ATV and took a wee bit of modification. It has been a good unit and was competitively priced.

I bought raised planters and lots of assorted tools. Mixed bag on products, but good service.
Happy with them and use for last 4 years or so.

They have some good stuff. I purchased a gas heat stove on sale 20 yr. back and it's good quality. I also bought a set of tractor forks and they were not inexpensive and, again, quality. I was able to have them shipped to the store and avoided shipping costs. They closed their brick/mortar stores in Colorado and I can no longer go in and examine a product, and I've left them behind for that. Some of their stuff in the stores was pretty cheesy quality, but they had some good things, too.

I used to buy lots of Northern Hydraulics stuff but must not have been able to find them and just started buying from the farm stores of ag catalogs mail order. NH had everything hydraulic and it worked for me.

Well, yes, under a rock in that I worked several jobs, farmed, moved halfway across the country and such. Time sort of slipped away. Not to worry since I'm back on track and just ordered--coming today--a replacement seat for my B7800 that will keep me from sliding out of the saddle.

NT does seem to have lots more name brand stuff than HF so that is a plus if the price is right. HF used to carry lots of high end tools 20 or more years ago. I bought Makita from them at good prices. Trailer parts at NT are pretty nice.
