Do the Mormon Crickets eat enough greenery to have any affect on brush fires or do you even have enough brush to have a brush fire problem?Out here it's not cicadas, it's Mormon crickets for the 3rd year in a row now. Anything that's green is gone very quickly when these 2" monsters are on the move.View attachment 699644
No. Greenery doesn't burn. This is not California, we don't have huge tall forests. What we have is cheatgrass and low brush, which by midsummer is completely dried out. But the one thing good about wildfires is that they can wipe out huge populations of crickets and grasshoppers.Do the Mormon Crickets eat enough greenery to have any affect on brush fires?
Thanks. I was thinking the crickets might take out the greenery before it could dry and become flammable.No. Greenery doesn't burn. This is not California, we don't have huge tall forests.
