70 going to 91.

Ron, great bluebird. We've been watching them land on the edges of our roof and feed their young.

Yesterday I retilled the garden and put black landscape fabric down...reused last year's so didn't have to cut the dozens of holes in it. Buying the more expensive stuff is really worth it...and 6' wide so it covers the tiller width with room to overlap. This is the latest we've ever planted a garden by far, for a number of reasons, but we were growing tomatoes and peppers in pots and transplanted them. It got so hot my wife thought she was about to go into heatstroke, so did a first aid protocol. Stayed in house and binge watched Yellowstone for rest of afternoon.

Good morning! 77˚F heading to the upper 80s. Cloudy 70% chance of afternoon clouds.
I sneaked a peak at this weeks ranking in H&F and surprisingly not only am I still #1 but I have a 2 game lead on #2. To positively maintain my lead tonight I can only loose one game. The pressure is on. Yesterday during my nap deprived practice games I lost three, glad they did not count.

No Mostly, depriving myself of a afternoon nap for cards was not in my best interest. The Sunday H&F card group has beginners in it that do not understand the 4 laws of closing melds.
Austin has a bicycle shortage: Bicycle shortage affecting Austin may continue for another year

Got an appointment today for the Kia's another 6 month maintenance (they mentioned that If I wait, their mandatory mask requirement is still in effect) - still using the free coupon book negotiated at purchase.

Every time I think I have the water valves figured out I start to overthink and then they don't make sense. Today I have access and tools so hopefully I can turn the valves and figure this out, If the rains don't flood me out again. The valve I took a pic of filled with 4" of water after I drained it. Leak or seepage from the rains, time will tell.

Morning all, sunny and hopefully cooler today, was 96 yesterday, luckily under a massive tent for kids band event yesterday.

Eric, any poplar I take down is due to rotting etc. I have made benches from the Ash trees.

Turtle nest marked off and got some pool time yesterday.
Neighbor lost their dog, went looking with my hound, who can;t find anything but food and stinky things to roll in, luckily neighbor found his pup, but not until close to midnight.

TXDon - seems like whoever put in your plumbing had a bad sense of humor.

One of the foxes was wandering down the driveway, saw us and ran. Thought they were more aware of their surroundings, was maybe 20 feet from us and dog.

Hope Sophie's surgery goes flawlessly today

Stay safe and be well, flail arrives today. Built rolling dolly for it, will see how it works.

75F and mostly cloudy @ 10:00, headed up to a high of 83F with showers and/or thunderstorms likely this afternoon.

Refilled hopper feeder yesterday, scoop of cracked corn for doves, also put out 8 mealworms each, front and back. Plus two refill two suet feeders.

Watered the south end of the newly seeded area where I'm trying to smooth out the bumps as it was getting some sun. Moved water buffalo around back for refill after that as it was empty.

Mowed all down around the house.

Mowed upper front.

Started trimming back the Japanese yew at the southeast corner of the house. It's huge - probably 15' wide x 12'+ tall - and will be getting removed and possibly relocated if I can get it out without damaging the roots too badly. Took one dump cart load of the trimmings up to the compost pile.

Spread last bag of lime on the lower front.

Spread two bags of actual lawn fertilizer on lawn around house (finally !)

Moved pallet with with large Contico tool box on it around back and got that hosed off.

Hosed off spreader before knocking off.

Currently on menu for today:

Prep blueberry patch for vegetable plants (weed, probably remove old wood chips and add composted soil)

Plant said vegetable plants.

Refill feeder for hummer.

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 7:15AM. Mostly sunny. High 87F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Ran into strong headwinds north of Bishop, CA along US395 yesterday afternoon, which turned into cross winds along CA70 for the rest of the trip. Laid down on tank bag to get out of the wind, a real pain in the neck. An early 6:30AM start got me to Bishop before it got hot, and from there north the elevation gain kept temperatures mild. After eleven hours in the saddle, it's still a contest to see if the saddle or my butt will be the first to break in.

castleFire.jpg

The area around our campsite was hit very hard by last year's Castle Fire, but firefighters saved Camp Nelson and the surrounding homes. There was heavy equipment everywhere along the road removing trees and branches, all charred and blackened by the flames. I followed an empty semi trailer used to haul wood chips until it turned up a side road where a temporary chipping station had been set up. All the road shoulders in the burned area were covered by chips. Sure hope nobody tosses their cigarette butts into the chips, as they'll make great kindling for all the standing dead trees. Maybe that's the plan to finish the job, as it's hard for me to even imagine how they're going to clean up all those thousands of toasted acres othewise.

Maybe Randy can coach you through the installation of a '70s style vinyl roof if you can't find a new one, Kyle.

The neighbor was supposed to come over with his big backhoe while I was gone and knock out the rest of the water tank terrace, but I see that didn't happen. No word on why, so I'll get going again on it this morning. Also need to make calls to arrange for the tank delivery, and more gravel.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a healthy start!

Good morning to all! Low of 55, going up to near 90 again... both Sat and Sun hit 92. NO RAIN! Again, all around us, just bypassing our area...

Only caught a brief report of a wildfire to the north of us, but this morning, the sky is very hazy and filled with smoke. I am assuming it has grown in size.

Just been piddling around... changed the oil in the truck, replaced air filter. Then took the time and did a full interior detail. Taking it in for warranty work tomorrow. The driver's window switch decides to only work intermittently. Hopefully will be a quick repair.... I hate waiting for hours at the dealer!

The wifey has a bunch of plants really grow well in the greenhouse. Some will be coming out soon.

Best wishes for Sophie's surgery today and for a speedy recovery!

Rick, you need to turn off the rain vacuum and let some of it fall up here! That's a crazy amount of rain that you have gotten!

Everyone have a great day and start to the week!

70°F and cloudy with some light sprinkles this morning, going up to 86° today. Chances of rain predicted through Wednesday.

Wife had an event Saturday with a local rescue group. Took the foster dog, who left from there on a journey to another foster home in Atlanta. Her surgery staples were removed on Friday, so she got the all-clear to travel. She brought home another foster from the event. This one is an Aussie mix about 5-6 months, is mostly blind, but can hear just fine. Cute little thing, but rambunctious and hard-headed. She's in for a manners boot camp. I spent much of the day riding around on the zeroturn. Six hours later, the grass was all shorter. Wanted to get the broken off clothes line post dug out of the back yard, but couldn't find my round tuit. Maybe some night this week when the ground is softer.

In addition to bringing home a new foster dog, The Wife also brought home her brother Saturday afternoon. He stayed with us Saturday night so we could get up early Sunday morning and go paddling. He's been wanting to go with us, so we found a place that rents kayaks and headed out early Sunday morning. We loaded up and drove north to Lake Springfield in Springfield IL. We rented a kayak for him at the Lake Springfield Marina, put in there and paddled south about 1.6 miles to a little park in Chatham, where we stopped and ate lunch before heading back to the marina. We just kind of hung around on the water back at the marina, watching all the boat traffic and people playing on the water. It was quite busy there. The weather was supposed to be cloudy and rainy, but the rain never materialized and the clouds broke shortly after we got on the water. I didn't take my wide brim hat, so I got more sun than I'd hoped (planned) for. We had a great time, though. Everyone at the marina was super nice, and very helpful with the BIL for his first time out. The lake, though busy, was pretty nice, too. We'll definitely go back.

Glad you're feeling better, Roy.

Always great to see young people getting into music, Ken.

Best wished for Sophie today, David.
