One of my favorite roles for Ned Beatty was as the boorish traveling salesman (Sweet) on the train in the movie Silver Streak. He was in the bar, having a cocktail, and acting a cheesy as you can get, while trying to hustle Jill Clayburgh (Hilly):

  • Sweet : Do you go all the way?
    Hilly : What?
    Sweet : I said, do you go all the way - - - - - - - - to Chicago?
Hilly : Oh. Yes, I do.
Sweet : Well then, maybe we can do it together.
    Hilly : Do what?
    Sweet : Go to Chicago.

Later in the scene, she turned the tables on him, started to come on, and asked if he was "hot." He was getting excited, and said yes. So in response she poured her cocktail and ice cubes down the front of his pants.

Hope they didn't have to do re-shoots of that scene! :)

That happened after the show ended in 1982? And he lived with it until 2021?

My goodness.

Definitely RIP.

MoKelly
I don't know when it started. He was working until 2014. He acted and directed quite a bit from 1970-2014.

My dad had Lewy Body. It’s like having Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s at the same time. Not good.
