I’m not saying it shouldn’t have one, it just doesn’t. Something else for me to look at.

My thought is first go under the tractor on a creeper (or cardboard) with a good light.
A helper could engage and disengage the 4WD rod so you can see what moves and where. Block the wheels. I doubt if you need it running.

Thanks for the help. You were dead on about the lever getting rotated from 9 to 3. I’m guessing that it happened at the same time that the lever itself and rod got a little bent on a sapling while brush mowing. The whole lever just spun enough on the input shaft , which is why I didn’t have any 4wd at all. The clamp had loosened up sufficiently to just spin. Right now it’s got enough grip on the grooves to hold. Just have to keep it tight and see what happens when I have to replace the input shaft because it’s rubbed the grooves smooth and has no grip. Much appreciate the assistance folks.

Hopefully you can tighten the retaining bolt and KEEP it tight.
Might not hurt the re-torque it in a couple weeks/hours.

Oh yeah, will definitely keep an eye on it. I added a lock washer to help keep it snug as well. Again, grateful for knowledge and time.
