First thank you to all who have made suggestions regarding a tractor capable of pulling and stopping my manlift.

I've purchased a Kubota L3010 and it pulls the lift without even noticing it's there. Now I need advice on my method of moving the lift. I'm trying to connect the lift to the tractor using the 3pt. This works really well, except when I start moving the lift the ball "tilts" back and forth. See attached. Is there some special "connector" for this task? Or how do I keep the red bar from rotating? I know I'm showing my ignorance, but i figure it's better than doing something really wrong.

There is a piece called a drawbar lock. But it almost looks from your picture that your drawbar is round not flat so this piece would not work. In that case you would need to go to tractor supply and buy a new drawbar as well as the drawbar lock

Gotta ask why you just don't use the ball hitch that's already on the drawbar under the PTO in that picture? That's what it's made for: towing implements.

You are just seeing edge view of drawbar....

You could also just pass a heavy threaded rod through one of the other holes in the drawbar, and up through your top link. Note the top link hole can point vertically if you wish, as the ends are threaded. This is probably the cheapest option, and the only one you could get all the parts for at most hardware stores. My older ballast was built this way.

Though, it's still scary that your 3 point will probably be free to rise up if your load balances that way. If you were going down hill and holding the load back, this could get scary.

Why not use the ball that's already there, like MossRoad asked?

If I was pulling anything of moderate to heavy weight, I would only pull it with the draw bar and not anything attached to the 3 pt hitch.

I don't know how heavy your lift is that you're trying to tow, but can't you just tow it from the hitch ball in the end of the draw bar? That draw bar looks like it's slid all the way in when looking at the picture. You can slide it out if you're worried about clearing the lower 3 pt lift arms. I don't like having a heavy trailer hitch weight sitting on the 3pt that is free to move up and down when it feels like it. You go over uneven ground and next thing you know, the hitch is way up in the air.

always pull with a draw bar. safer, and just works. 3pt hitch isnt for a trailer pull
