The scientific world is constantly changing positions on any number of studies with previously held beliefs...
That's how it's supposed to work. You look at the data you have then make an informed, educated hypothesis. Then when you get more or better data you do it again and if it contradicts the previous hypothesis then fine. If only humans worked this way. Everyone thinks they do but virtually no one does because cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.

Reminds me of when people accuse a politician of flip-flopping, as if once you form an opinion it's somehow wrong to change it. Yeah it may be politically motivated but IMO it usually is not. We need more politicians with the courage and intelligence to change their opinions when the facts dictate it, not more blowhards with closed minds sticking to beliefs they formed 30 years ago.

Probably won't like the looks of this one, either (no one was seriously injured per report).

I expect it is well beyond totalled even without a frontal or rear impact. If with reset the computer will Boot and the car will move forward and reverse 6 in it will sell for a lot of money. If it was a new model 3 it would be worth about $25,000 as is. EVs total quickly.

The estimate on our 2016 Nissan Leaf SL was $24K and it still runs and drives like new. No front cap, air bags or seatbelts keeps it from being street legal. :(

I would be careful of an EV with even slight impact to the battery compartment.
Can individual Cells be replaced easily?

Just removing a 1,000+ lb battery not easy say nothing about opening up the case.

EV batteries are built like a Timex which means they are designed to take a licking and keep on ticking.

A older but good Tesla S with the P85 battery pack out of a wreck will run you 12 to 16 grand. One off grid guy paid $15K and drove from KY to Georgia and haul it back hold a small single axle trailer bumping all the way.

This would not be an option when Tesla moves to the structural battery pack as part of the car frame I expect. BYD blade batteries may be the same story.

It's not meant to be taken literally...!

The scientific world is constantly changing positions on any number of studies with previously held beliefs...
Usually (when there is no political pressure) science looks at data ("evidence") from every possible angle and standpoint...other times (like when there is political pressure) science comes up with ways to alter said data ("evidence"...(good word here))...to make the "science" look more like their beliefs...!
There you go, using that "belief" word. There is no belief in science, only facts, and the facts are always open to challenge. You are getting confused by news reporters who don't understand the subject they are reporting on, so they interpret things to support their world view. That is not science. Even worse are the buffle headed internet "experts" who pick and choose random statements to support their idiot theories.

Belief is error. It makes people stupid.

FYI...I'm not confused by anyone...especially talking heads...
And FYI...The word "belief" is an excellent adjective to describe the AGW theory...because there are no scientific facts to prove it... The only data that actually supports the theory has been altered to make it so...

Facts derived from manipulated data are not actually facts...and the advocates that exploit those fake facts are the ones that pick and choose their statements to support their idiotic theories...!

Most people think they will always be able to pull up to the pump and fill their tank.

I remember gas lines and odd/even days.

My parents told me about pooling gasoline ration coupons with friends so they could take a 100 mile road trip once a month.
True, I remember my dad hoarding whatever gas he could find in a 55 gallon drum in the garage because many times you just couldn't get it. In hindsight it's a wonder he didn't blow the house off the foundation killing us all. Then there were the people who ran out of gas while waiting to buy more. Most had to just abandon their cars where they died. At least with an EV I can make my own electricity with solar panels. Trying to make my own gas might be a little more problematic.
