If you put the range selector in neutral you can tow it.

Not sure I understand circumstances "you dont want to get into".

What possible circumstances would allow you to get another machine to the field and tow it, but not a filter and a bucket of fluid?
Perhaps he doesn't want to get dirty. :ROFLMAO:

And still have to get the bucket of fluid and filter after it’s towed out. If I was about to pull the engine I’d be towing it out but a filter replacement??

Blackberries, snakes, mud, poison ivy, mosquitoes, Bigfoot sightings ... Not sure I'd want to be under a machine taking off a skid plate in some 'circumstances'.

And would that be so hard to say other than "I don't want to get into it"

"I paid good money for a fancy skid plate that didn't protect the hydraulic filter. It does, however, prevent changing the filter with the skid plate in place".

A skid plate wouldn't have done much to prevent a sapling from coming up over my front axle, finding a gap below the radiator, and pushing the engine belt off as it threaded its way in.

I was flail mowing and hate to shut down when hot, but without the water pump running it would have run hotter. I shut down when the temp needle rose quickly. Just as I lifted the hood the AF res bottle overflowed. You bet I was scared. I was also lucky and no harm seems to have come from that one time I've had a tractor overheat.
