Good question Rick. I have the same question for him. When I talk about Farmall 140 tires, I'm talking about tires to fit my 2 Farmall 140s. All 140s run the same size tires BTW. Please do me a favor and don't quote me in your stupid posts. I'm not sure who else in this thread is a newbie compared to you but I can assure you I am not. This post you wrote and the one that followed it are about the dumbest things I read. No one believes tires are sold the way you describe, by tractor brand. It's just vernacular. The way we talk about things. But what I guarantee you is that if you call a tire dealer in my area and say that you need a set of Farmall 140 tires he won't ask what size.

Thank you gentlemen,after review I noticed op,Rick and workin are from the Carolinas. That coupled with workin's explaination that you were speaking in dialect prompt's me to retract the notion your posts might be confusing. They might be to others outside your region but in this case op was well served by using terms he's familiar with. If anyone should appreciate dialect and vernacular speech,Texans certainly should. "We'al" are probably most guilty of the intire country when it come's to regional language. Against your request workin I am quoting you to prevent your habit of editing your posts when it serve's your agenda.

The highlighted words are universal coast to coast so I advise you refrain from using them to describe men and their actions,10 fold if you find yourself face to face.
I respectfully ask forgivness if I was alone in not following the reasoning behind connecting tires to specific tractors and wanted clearification if it indeed made tire shopping more effecient. It's common in Tx,Ok,Ks and other middle states to order or retro-fit tractors with smaller,larger,different tread and even additional duals.

Your comments were largely directed at me and a bit snide in my opinion. If you didn't mean them that way then you have my aplolodies regarding my comments. I would think everyone on here knows that you can't go to the tire store and shop in the Farmall or John Deere section for tires but I may be wrong. Thus the way I took your post.

Any reasonably proficient tire supplier employee will require tire size, tread type and probably ply rating long before asking or caring what brand of tractor the customer is working on.

Not gathering that information is a recipe for selling and possibly special ordering the wrong tire.
