Hi all! My brother-in-law got stuck while mowing and was able to get free using the old "in reverse with the bucket in the ground" routine. After he got out, he raised to bucket and arms to get back to the shop and the arms are stuck in the up position. Bucket moves up and down without an issue. I searched and found a post about something similar and it was a bad QD. Forgive my lack of education on this but I don't know what a QD is and how to check.

Thanks for the help!

Update, I was told there is no shaking(or feeling of engagement) when the hoist lever is pushed forwards or backwards, but the bucket does move with the lever being pushed left and right.

the quick disconnect is the device that allows 2 hydraulic hoses to connect to each other, or to a device. there should be 4 hoses attached to the loader. these 4 hoses run down and connect to the tractor. the place where they connect is the QD.

make sure one hasnt popped out.

If you have a boot over the loader control left it up and see something came loose.

If a QD didnt come un coupled and I doubt it did(ususly theres not a QD on just the bucket cylinders) I bet theres just air in the cylinder and you will need to hold the valve longer.

It the FEL is quick-attach the hoses to it will be QA too. Some with joystick 'on the fender' will have them ~ knee-high and under the right loader tower looking vulnerable.

I've had brush/saplings poke into and disrupt stuff that was better shielded. If a QA's lock ring gets the right bump pressure can unseat the connection just far enough to close up either m or f. If you don't see any leak it would be both.

If reconnecting QAs didn't give results I'd look for a sticking spool.

..?... every tractor loader ive ever run has them.

not sure about the real old ones, but modern non Commercialunits have a loader as an option. The hoses plug into the 4 ports that run to the joystick.

Check the 3ph raise lever, I’ve seen a few that were stuck in the up position and the lever was trying to raise the 3ph not allowing any return flow from the FEL loader valve.

…..or above suggestions
