Like someone else said, my FEL never comes off the top by itself, I always need to step on the bucket. It seems to be pretty well balanced. I have tried all positions of the stand legs and I have tried adding wood under them, did not help.

These are my steps as shown to me by the person that delivered my tractor.
  1. Raise the bucket, curled up all the way. You want it high enough to lower the stand legs
  2. Lower the stand legs
  3. Pull the locking pins -- do not lower onto the stand legs first
  4. Lower the bucket all the way, the stands will contact the ground and the lower part of the bearing boxes will pull out of the support -- this is the point when people expect it to tip of the top of the supports by itself but it does not, as I said, it seems to be balanced to sit like this.
  5. Depending on how high the bucket is off the ground I may need curl it down a bit to keep it from dropping too far at once when I step on it. You don't want it to drop more that a few inches all at once. I've done this once and the entire FEL twisted to one side, had a hell of a time backing my tractor out of it.
  6. Get off the tractor and go step on the bucket and this tips the upper part of the bearing boxes out of the supports.
  7. Curl the bucket all the way up, I store it with all cylinders full retracted.
  8. Turn off the tractor and rotate the joystick through all positions to relieve pressure
  9. Disconnect hoses
  10. Start the tractor and back out
  11. Put locking pins into back into the loader

i'll try that if the way rep showed owner don't work. worse case is set few cement blocks near where loader will be stored to sit in bucket

Some weight in the bucket could tip the balance so that it pops off the tops, but I'd be careful about how far it the bucket needs to drop to the ground. As I noted, the movement of the FEL can be a bit unpredictable if it drops too far all at once. I actually don't mind stepping on the bucket because I can better control that drop distance, and I need to be off the tractor anyway to disconnect the hoses at that point and I can just be off the tractor till I need to start it up to back it out of the FEL.

The senior citizens using it both have issues where doing that may be issue but if I get block weight right they can set blocks in bucket. Just need to fine tune it if I have to go that route. I'll often be around when they need it removed or put on but not always.

I'm starting to wonder if the bucket's lip could be tucked under/into an object (rock, stump. etc) and the curl used to leverage more height at the tower to QD it. Dismounting it where you'll park it or briefly, for months, for service access ..?

Could just filling the bucket vs standing on it (sand, gravel, firewood) be convenient enough .. and easy to re-connect and then return the load to pile/place accordingly?

My first thought, if its just a "balance" problem and not mechanically bound up...

That video is exactly what I was shown when by the person that delivered mine.

I don't think it has anything to do with paint or binding. I think it has everything to do with balance.

I've had mine off and on many times over the last year and I lubricate those pivot points. Mine is off most of the time and I only put it on when I'm going to use it and then I take it right back off again when I'm done. I have never had it pull off the top without stepping on the bucket.

To be completely honest, I never gave a thought to putting a little weight in the bucket, but someone asked this question in the comments and Vahernberg replied that it could be done.

But then again, like I said, at that point you have to get off the tractor to disconnect the hoses, you're already off the tractor and it takes all of 2 seconds to step on the bucket and requires very little pressure to make it tip. Everything else you need to do like fully retracting the cylinders and relieving pressure can all be done from the ground anyway. I seriously don't understand whether it tips off the top by itself or not makes much of a difference.

the manual is pretty messed up on it we got it working ok with no weight/stepping when everything on perfectly level sitting.
on unlevel land we have to use the step on method. for that they will pickup 2 cement blocks and place block under the high side leg.
what a huge pain versus the DL100

believe it or not when you have to use cane to walk that's harder than you think. doing the off tractor stuff can hold onto tractor for support. not so in the bucket.

Raise loader , drop stand legs.
Remove lock pins.
Lower bucket, then dump until cutting edge just starts to take weight off stand legs.
Lower boom until loader arms lift away from mounting frame.
Back up a few inches.
Disconnect hoses.

Dumping or curling the bucket will not lift the arms out of the mounts. That is achieved by lowering the boom below the level which, if the pins were still in, would raise up the front tires.

did not work that way at all for us. upper pins would not raise out of upper cup. tried it just that way also with no curl movements (had started when bucket down flat on cement) but no joy.
lower pins came out slick just uppers were the issue.

this one seems to like pulling pins setting bucket so when legs about 1/2 inch off pad have lip bucket toughing and rear bucket about 5 inches up then curl up with brakes off in neutral.
