Like someone else said, my FEL never comes off the top by itself, I always need to step on the bucket. It seems to be pretty well balanced. I have tried all positions of the stand legs and I have tried adding wood under them, did not help.
These are my steps as shown to me by the person that delivered my tractor.

- Raise the bucket, curled up all the way. You want it high enough to lower the stand legs
- Lower the stand legs
- Pull the locking pins -- do not lower onto the stand legs first
- Lower the bucket all the way, the stands will contact the ground and the lower part of the bearing boxes will pull out of the support -- this is the point when people expect it to tip of the top of the supports by itself but it does not, as I said, it seems to be balanced to sit like this.
- Depending on how high the bucket is off the ground I may need curl it down a bit to keep it from dropping too far at once when I step on it. You don't want it to drop more that a few inches all at once. I've done this once and the entire FEL twisted to one side, had a hell of a time backing my tractor out of it.
- Get off the tractor and go step on the bucket and this tips the upper part of the bearing boxes out of the supports.
- Curl the bucket all the way up, I store it with all cylinders full retracted.
- Turn off the tractor and rotate the joystick through all positions to relieve pressure
- Disconnect hoses
- Start the tractor and back out
- Put locking pins into back into the loader
