Fram is commonly known to be junk!
All an oil filter does is filter oil. It isn't rocket science. I have been using Fram filters as well any other brand that I happen to stumble across for the last 50+ years or so and have never had a problem related to the filter, dirty oil, or other lubrication issues. So these 'commonly known to be junk filters' seem to work just fine for me:unsure:. I just don't get some of the anecdotal criticisms or praises that I read in this forum.

To be fair not all fram are junk as they make many different grades. But when the filter media is alot smaller and has paper end caps where other brands have metal for a few cents more than an orange Fram..for the money they arnt really the best bang for the buck.
But they are wonderfull for flushing equipment, equipment your not going to keep or old equipment or even something you hardly use. I would still use a fram over a chinese brand filter.

Suggest you check out the Messick's video on oil filters that they cut apart for inspection, or the Project Farm oil filter video.

The Extra Guard Fram ain't bad. I've cut more than one open (have one of those high buck filter can openers) and the Extra Guard with the gripper bottom is as good as a Wix inside.

I concur, I would not hesitate to use a Fram Extra Guard, but their Orange line is junk. They get a bad rap because most companies don't go that cheap and dirty even in their "budget" line. They tend to overprice Extra Guard around here, so I think Wix, Napa Gold and even Bosch are better value. That's for cars, but I suppose it would apply to tractors also.
