Advice on replacing JD4720

Those 4720"s tend to get hammered pretty good. That's a little too much power on too small off a machine. I am glad I went for the 4120 back in 2005 when a guy could still get an American made engine in a 43 hp tractor. I have a bit over 1000 hrs on it now and it is as tight as it was when new.

These days, I think you got to settle for Asian or European engines in tractors of that size. That wouldn't have gone over well for me back in 2005, when a couple of my uncles who fought those folks were still living.

I just sold my JD 4720 tractor with cx400 loader and 448 backhoe which i owned for 16 years. See pic. It has been a great tractor, but i need to replace it. I have narrowed my decision to three models. JD4066, kubota L47 and the M62. I know they are not exactly the same machines, but i used to be a chicken farmer with a large acreage. i no longer have chickens, but still have the acreage and use my machine more as a tool as oppose to a tractor. i plan to do small foundations, landscaping, forklift work and dirt work in the future. Any advice on which would be the better choice. I may need to haul the machine around to all my projects. i would love to hear from a long time JD guy who went orange. I know the JD 4066 would be a great tractor, but a think the Kubota L47 or M62 would be better for certain tasks.
I have the older than the M62 ( and slightly smaller ) Kubota L48 TLB.
The M62 would seem to fit your desires perfectly!
It is a built from the ground up, as a specific medium duty earth moving machine.
Nothing else in the size/weight group compares!
Be absolutely certain to get a hydraulic thumb!

L47 and even more so M62 outclass anything else in that size. A regular compact tractor with a hoe isn’t even in the same class.

They are both great machines, but the L47 has a 10' dig depth, while the M62 has 14' dig depth.
4 more feet of dig depth (hoe reach) is a BIG deal!
