I don't think my federal pension would go very far on your lifestyle. I did retire early however. Being honest, keeping health care benefits when I retired enabled me to retire early otherwise I would have kept on working.Actually, i qualified for food stamps in oregon for 6-7 years and lots of other ssi income/benies that in fact, i did turn down.....or didn't apply for.
The commercials urging people to get the benefits THEY DESERVE make me ill. And i watch little commercial tv.
As far as social security, i'd turn that down if i could only get on the federal employees pension plan because, i'm sure they really deserve it.
ha, that's funny, my life style.I don't think my federal pension would go very far on your lifestyle. I did retire early however. Being honest, keeping health care benefits when I retired enabled me to retire early otherwise I would have kept on working.
Dude, come on! You are building a new house on an old tree farm. That requires assets. One of the reasons I retired was the difficulty of the job. Every day was a Monday. I was paid adequately for my education and experience but believe me, I would not have done for less. There are not a lot of civil servants however there are a lot of contractors. My counterparts at Boeing were being paid more than me. I would not want their job either. It was more stressful than mine. I guess that I was not lucky or smart enough to get one of those low hanging fruit jobs. All the bestha, that's funny, my life style.
1st....i can live on my SS Bennies including medicare although i'd much rather be on the fed employee retirement package. Im single, life's less expensive.
2nd.....I've been thru Spotsylvania Va., I like the entire state, except the area around DC, which is creeping down to Richmond and Charlottesville etc.
3rd....While I believe the govt is the worst employer on the planet and they employ far far too many people....I don't blame anyone for taking that route, low hanging fruit. It's all this BS about deserving....
Another thing which government employees face is that everybody is your employer... and a lot of people think that you are slave labor.Dude, come on! You are building a new house on an old tree farm. That requires assets. One of the reasons I retired was the difficulty of the job. Every day was a Monday. I was paid adequately for my education and experience but believe me, I would not have done for less. There are not a lot of civil servants however there are a lot of contractors. But it's balanced out since a much lower percentage are actual workers.I read that 14% of US employment is by federal, state and local governments. That seems pretty high.
