Yeah, the color screams Harbor Freight, but looks like a nice little mill to get going on! I dont see a tank for blade lube (might just be hidden from the camera) and you will need that to keep the blade cool and from getting all gummed up.
Keep us updated .. looks like a fun project!

How big do alder get down there?
This is our variety of alder where I live in NorCal. This one was 99' high, and 14" diameter. I made some nice 4x4 legs for a table, sold some of the logs, and burned the rest. Almost none left on my property, and not sure why.

Great firewood, and easy to split.

Lol. Well, I am going to have to take a picture of our alder here. Hard to believe they are of the same species. Does that get light and weak when it dries? I think much of its mass is water weight. Once dry it’s like a feather. And though none here would be big enough to split. I can see it would be similar to aspen or poplar to split.

Interesting. I would have thought our alder up here is the same as yours down there. Our alder bark looks like the picture on the right side of the link, the one of the broken branch. A LOT of lichen on the alder bark here.

They're the same genus but a different species.

The engine is Power Fist brand. A product line of Princess Auto in Canada. Chinese (ahem) products. Don't know the difference, but one was $400, the other on sale for $230. Guess which I bought. 1 hp difference. (I bought the 14hp). And since it's not my saw.........
There was a water tank and drip line for blade lube but the tank disintegrated into a sticky mess of black something or other, and the hose rotted too.
The rack for the water tank is still there and I'll set something up eventually. For now I'll use a squirt bottle and I have decided on chainsaw bar oil and diesel fuel to see how that works.
It is a fun project. I'm on vacation next week(s) and plan on spending it on the mill if it's not too hot. We just got through a week of 40celcius here. That's around 100 Fahrenheit.
That'll take the fun out of a project fairly quick.

Finally got my tractor front axle repaired (outer bearing failure) so that I could clean up the deadfall from last week's storms. This dead ash tree wood has stood vertical, but dead, for at least 10 years. "dry storage" as a co-worker of mine calls it. It makes terrific firewood, only a month or two of seasoning required once split. But it is so HARD! Dulls my poorly sharpened blades rather quickly and then cuts kinda smokey lol.

You know the nice THONK sound a baseball bat can make? These ash logs all do that whenever you whack 'em on something.

Sadly, these two trees were among the last of my vertical dead ash. Sucks about the emerald ash borer beetle, but I did appreciate having accessible and hard/dry wood available for my woodstove in the first few years after building our home. Now that I have my production a bit further ahead, I have all the cherry, walnut and oak I'll ever need going forward.

Another ash down in the yard, clean up will wait for cooler weather, the poison ivy and grape vine will add to the fun:

I would use water, and for green wood it doesn't take much...

I would NOT use oil/diesel for the lube, think about it tree's are full of water, why are you adding oils? It takes very little water to lube the blade, so don't set it up to use more than a drip when sawing.

Lots of folks think the water is used to cool the band, but it's really there as a lube...

It really is a shame to see all the dead ash trees everywhere, they all look the same, just dead stalks, down to about 3"-4" then covered in poison ivy or some other vine. If you didn't know better you'd think they were choked out by the vine, not eaten within by a beetle. Never did like Beatles...
