Yep, scare people to death to force them into doing what you want them to do. “Grim reaper” types constantly glooming and dooming.

Most of the climate deniers have very valid claims. The earth has been much warmer, and cooler.
But at no time has such a large number of people lived so close the sea surface level.
142 years of records 😆

What makes some people almost narcissistic about this?
The Last Glacial Period (LGP) occurred from the end of the Eemian to the end of the Younger Dryas, encompassing the period c. 115,000 – c. 11,700 years ago. The LGP is part of a larger sequence of glacial and interglacial periods known as the Quaternary glaciation which started around 2,588,000 years ago and is ongoing.[

It's like trying to find out the earth's circumference by laying a 9 inch torpedo level repeatedly end to end around the equator. 🤪
There are many other "records" going back for thousands and millions of years.
Tree rings, ice cores, sedimentary records.

It's like using speed squares, yardsticks, lasers to measure distances between points on a table, a football field, in space.

As the earth warms this time it is going to cause billions of people to relocate as sea levels rise.

As human activity ADDS to and speeds up this warming there may be some chance to slow the rate increase.

But I don't hold out much hope. After watching the last two years of vaccine deniers I'm pretty sure Umericans will rationalize whatever happens. Science stands no chance against politics in the short term.

I've been hedging my bets by keeping our acreage in Mississippi, Virginia. and Vermont. I figured out one of those places will be livable as I get older.
/edit
It's like seeing people die because they refused to get vaccinated, after a while I just give up and say they should have known better.

I'm just glad that we have not had record breaking heat. We have had many summers hotter than this year. I suppose I spoke too soon as summer is not over. It does seem like the humidity has been higher this summer. I don't know how I made it without AC when I was a kid.

As a degreed climatologist, I could really get down in the weeds on this and explain why it's all B.S.

But let's take a simpler approach. How long has Earth been here? Some say millions of years, which I personally do not believe. Others say tens of thousands of years. Nobody knows for certain. What we do know for certain is that worldwide temperature MEASUREMENTS, not assumptions from carbon dating, tree rings, and all that bologna, but actual measurements, using calibrated thermometers, has been going on for less than 150 years. Which means that we have a <1% sample size.

In 3rd grade, we all learned that you cannot use a less than 1% sample size to describe the whole. That's bad science and leads to bad information.

Furthermore scientific law states matter cannot be created nor destroyed. In other words, we can transform one thing into another (trees into lumber, oar into steel, herbs into medicines, etc.) but we can't create new things and we can't destroy what God has made. It's science. Therefore, humans cannot "destroy the planet" by simply living here.

Also of interest, every time the local TV meteorologist says "we set a new record high today", I find it amusing that the old record we broke was set in the 1800s or early 1900s, long before there were cars, hairspray cans, and interstate highways everywhere. It was just as hot back then as it is now.

As the old saying goes, "there is nothing new under the sun".

I always wonder when the quote statistics and say the earth is so many degrees warmer than it was 500 years ago. How do they know that? They are estimating what it was then. There is another word for estimating, it’s called guessing.

I still remember a friend of mine giving a presentation in science class on how the earth was cooling off, this would have been the early 1970’s. When I looked that up a couple of years ago they said they didn’t know what they were talking about then, the scientist were wrong then.

Here is that video.

I started watching that video and decided that I need to go out and cut some more firewood. Bye

Smoke from western fires is making eastern sunlight less intense at the surface.
Humidity is latent heat.

NASA was caught lowering historical temperatures. They said that those numbers where not correct, and they where adjusting them to what they really where.

NOAA has been caught several time fudging the results of their global temperatures. One year they kept the Summer temperatures for Siberia the same all the way to the end of the year. Another year they used estimates from Africa where they didn't have anything in place to record temperatures there.

Most official temperatures in the US are at airports. When inspected, they where usually found next, or very near HVAC systems. They are also in paved areas, which holds the heat more then unpaved areas.

The hottest periods in our recent history are the 1930's and 1890's. Every day, just about every local news channel will show show current temperatures and compare them to the historical high and low temperature for that day. Almost always, the Record High was back in the 1930s

During the Roman Empire, they had gold mines in the Alps that are still covered in snow today. It is not as warm today as it was back then. This means that the planet cooled after the Roman Empire, and it's either warming up again, or it warmed up to the temps in the 1930's, and cooled cooled off since the 30's and nobody really knows what it's doing today.

Historically, human civilization has always done better when the planet is warmer. None of the Global Warming experts will talk about the pros and cons of a warmer planet. They only give us doomsday threats and fear mongering. Would we have more rain? Longer growing seasons? Need less energy to survive winter? Fewer people freezing to death?

What is the ideal temperature that the planet is supposed to be if it's too hot today? If we are going to dedicate massive amounts of money to stop Global Warming, what is our Target Temperature?

How do we lower the temperature of the planet while allowing China and India to expand without any restrictions on how much they are doing to cause Global Warming?

Is there a single World Leader that believes in Global Warming that will actually stop flying in a private jet or drive in an electric car, or do anything themselves that they are requiring all of us to do?

I kinda think Earth was warmer a few million years ago when it was mostly festering volcanoes everywhere.
The original post refers to "the hottest July since records began 142 years ago" so you are correct. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old so comparing today's temperatures with the past is like comparing apples to oranges. 🍎🍊
