Buying Advice Illinois tractor dealers?

"8 - year powertrain warranty"
Will RK still be selling tractors in 8 years?

Chances are strong that they will.

I've seen dealers toss in the towel back in 2020 during the covid scare. AND should RK wind down, TYM picks up everything otherwise with Yanmar there too.

Look at MTD Cub Cadet exiting the compact build market and Yanmar then absorbed it all 100% and still honored all the warranty of those machines even today.

Have you tried moving from one dealer to another and had headaches about it? There are threads after threads here just on that.

I forgot about Birkey’s. They are a Kubota dealer plus larger ag equipment. They have a location in Macomb plus other locations some of which may be closer to you.

TYM made tractors for Cabelas.
Are TYM dealers servicing Cabelas 8 year tractor warranties?

Those tractors are a totally different critter. Those are TYM+Tong Yang, not Yanmar. Mainly the RK tractors for the 8-year warranty is the drive-train, thus it's all Yanmar. :)

Here's a great write up on why Cabela's tractor endeavor was a failure from the start vs. the RK - Rural King who is in it for the very long haul.

Now, decades ago in the late 70s and into 1980, Tractor Supply offered the US domestic Yanmars for about 3 years till John Deere stepped into the picture. Thus, TSC afterwards only carried tractor parts vs. offering tractors anymore.

TYM is not a standalone company by any means.
The Tong Yang Moolsan (TYM) company of Korea is a global tractor manufacturer, selling tractors under the TYM and Branson brands.
Recently, TYM acquired Kukje Machinery Company. KMC has been manufacturing tractor parts since the 1960s for Yanmar. And KMC also has their own tractor brand with Yanmar engineered engines all made in Korea, not China.

Thus, the TYM and Yanmar connection today in the RK tractors.

The only Yanmar part on a TYM or RK tractor is just the engine, nothing else. Newer TYM models use the Kukje/Cummins engine.

TYM did bought Kukje, however Kukje still works pretty much as a standalone company, just like before TYM bought them, when they were owned by Dongkuk Steel. Kukje makes Branson tractors with the Kukje/Cummins engine. Also makes some JD tractors and sell tractors to Shibaura, Bad Boy, McCormick, Ursus, Carraro and some others that are then rebadged to each brand.

I reached out to them and haven't gotten a response. That is actually the case for most all dealers. So far I've emailed and called most dealers within 100 miles. Exactly two have responded. One has only 1 tractor a 47 HP Kioti. It is a great tractor but too much $$ right now and they don't have a backhoe. If I decided to take zero percent financing I would like to include the backhoe. Other dealer that responded had a 55 HP Massey. Even more overkill. He does have a used Mahindra that I'm going to look at. It is a 1538 2016 model with 619 hours. It has a backhoe. It is a shuttle shift not a hydro. Might be workable anyway. Hydro would be a little more convenient for cleaning up after horses and would be better for the rest of the family to use. I've researched Mahindra before. They seem solid but not very popular or forums like this.

I bought my first tractor at Birkeys in Macomb 12 years ago, a Kubota. I called AC Macarthy in Carthage a couple years ago, asked about the price to add a mower deck to a tractor they had in stock, they never called me back. I then went to Martin Sullivan in Macomb and a few days later I had traded in my Kubota for a JD. It just seems hit or miss on if you get a responsive salesman. Sometimes I wonder how these places sell anything. Good luck.

I did not look at there website but Ac McCartney has branches in Wataga and Cathage. They are a Kubota and AGCO dealer. When I was talking with there Durand location they had a pretty good selection of equipment and would willingly ship between their dealerships.
Appreciate the lead. I checked and they have 40HP cab tractor. A bit much for me as I want an open but at least they have 2.

Certainly the current TYM tractors are a "different critter".
The question though is: Who is supporting the warranty of TYM tractors sold by Cabllas?

Did you look into this yourself? It would be EZ to search on the web if your bringing it up twice. ;)
