The inconvenience of public charging stations is why I think EV ownership will be spearheaded by homeowners. Renters can take the bus.
Apartment renters used to assume they had to use public laundromats too. For some reason they managed to get by before landlords started including washer hookups, and even washer and dryer in the apartment.

I assume they would use account based chargers and remove any outside outlets to keep the ICE tenants from paying for EV tenant's recharging.

Of course. The sad thing is the J1772 protocol doesn’t seem to provide access to VIN. Tesla did it outside the J1772 spec yet remaining within the hardware. Allows for very easy billing. Eliminates any need for user interface or credit card reader on the EVSE.

That’s just one of those glitches which have to be worked out of any new technology.

Was listening to a gal on the radio opine about the costs of mining the rare earth minerals needed to manufacture electric cars.
To give a frame of reference on building batteries, she said we burn 19 billion gallons of fuel to fly all commercial aviation in one year and said it takes 21 billion gallons of fuel to mine the ores needed to build electric car batteries.
She went on to remind us much of the electric cars are built with plastics, requiring more petroleum to build them.
She also reminded the audience that mostly coal and natural gas power plants would need to increase production to charge them. The power plants cannot burn as cleanly as a modern low emissions car.
She also made note of the human cost and briefly discussed some of the diseases the folks who mine cobalt, she referred to one as being called “Cobalt Lung”.
She also said that the average car battery life was about 10 years and as of now, there’s little in the ability to recycle them.
She said she thinks the environmental and human costs are not worth it.

And now renters don’t even have to pay their rent !! Win. win.

The Confirmation Bias is Strong in This EV Market.....

Given the lack of recycling capacity, this LG battery-recall alone is a logistics and Safety nightmare. How will these be stockpiled ?

How do you transport these condemned Lithium packs to a remote processing facility, once they get up and running ?

Even if you stacked them up in the desert, how long would that pile burn, once even one pack goes up ?

It's not hard to argue that the "glitch" is actually the people.....

Cruise Control has been around since I was a kid. How many of the general public know when not to use it ?

Blindly Consume
and Trust the Technology is the high-powered marketing that the masses have been fed. And, they listened; more importantly, obeyed and bought.

Now... they pay no attention.... to the Science behind the Curtain.......

Careful What You Wish For......
