IH Mccormick 624
Hi there!

New to this site.
I bought an old ih a few weeks ago. It really has seen better times, but will try to make the best of it. My main concern is that it seems hard to find spare parts for it. So how do you even fix its issues like the leaking of oil. Where do I find oil seals and so on.
Hoping to find others with same model and knowledge about it. My model is a 624.

Have you checked Jensales? You should be able to find parts for that tractor. There were lots of those tractors in my area back in the tobacco farming days. Probably still some of them being used.

About 24,000-ish machines made in the years made. Manufactured in Germany too. Almost 60Hp is very respectable as a diesel, yet getting parts today needs a good donor machine going forward.

It does share parts with the 724 and 824 machine with the bigger D-239 engine.

The problem with these models are, the engine doesn't sit on a frame. So, there is a huge difficulty to repower the machine with other engines in the industry. The most sought after old American iron Ag machines are the ones with a frame and the engine is mounted atop of the frame. Repowering has become a huge aftermarket business to go from 40+ old engines to modern drop in engines.

Maybe mine is the donor. It really have seen better days. But could be fun fixing it up a little and get some more use out of it. But if I cant find parts for it there is no reason in splitting it apart.
What is really annoying now is its severe leaking of trans oil from the pto lever on the side of the trans case. I have a parts manual for this model but am not sure what part it is. There are two drawings. One shows the trans case with some oil seal about where the lever is. The other shows the the lever and pto mecanism and shows two o rings. But orings are not seals and why two? The shaft doesnt go through the other side og the case.

Where are you? There were sold in Eastern Canada and were common back in the day. If you can find a former IH dealer you might get lucky, and salvages yards might have some present.

D-206 engine was also used in the newer 584,585,595,3230 etc.
