Bobcat Toolcat 5600
I have a 2015 Bobcat Toolcat 5600 and have an issue with the charging system. The battery is showing full charge and while the machine is running it is only showing 12.4 volts which means the alternator isn't charging the battery and the battery light on the dash keeps coming on. I checked the alternator itself with a multimeter and it is definitely charging but something (fuse maybe?) isn't letting the juice get to the battery. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

From the service manual:
Make sure the belt is OK, are the wires and connections OK, check the fuse for the alt in the fuse panel, etc

In the manual, I didn't see which fuse it may be as none of them are the alt fuse...????? Grrr

how do you know its charging? is the output around 14.7v?
the wire with the output from the alternator should be traced and tested at the other end. its not unusual to see a high amp fuseable link in it.

To be clear, you're saying the alternator is confirmed to be putting out 13-14 volts at the alternator but it's not getting to the battery?

Check the 100 amp master fuse:

I will check this fuse and get back to you. I know there's a fuse somewhere in the cab but none of the ones that I found say specifically for "alternator". I might try to pull them all to see if I can visibly see if any are blown.

In some applications they use a 'fusible link'. i.e. a short wire (usually shrink wrapped) of a lesser gauge that becomes your fuse'. I might not even be shown in a wiring diagram.

I once 'low ball bid' a low mileage (still on warranty) and won it.
The problem was but a fusible link !
I flipped it wholesale and actually close to doubled my money.
That was a Gov't sale for a seized (drug) car.
It was marked 'will not start' as-is sale but I found papers that showed it was still under warranty so it was a no gamble.
LOL, Probably should also have bought a lottery ticket.

Looking at the schematics in the manual:
The big mega 100a fuse seems to only feed non-switched items and alternator isn't one of them.

The alt battery volts supply (orange wire at alt) seems to go through the F4 fuse in the cab fuse panel which is near your right foot when driving (near throttle).

I checked the master fuse last evening and it looks like its in good shape. I will check the F4 fuse later today and see what it looks like! Thanks!!
