But my gas guzzler can and will get there and back comfortably and safely.
As would an EV, except polluting and belching all the way. And when it comes time to overhaul or repair it, there's no clean technology to do it. But not to worry, you'll be grandfathered.

Unless it's winter and cold and snowy and not driving in a densly populated area with charging stations,
then it laughs and say's guess what your ****
Yeah, I love my diesel tractor and other diesel powered stuff. Starts right up. Except when it's real cold. Then I have to use the block heater. But that's no big deal, just hafta remember to plug it in. Sure hope that ice storm doesn't knock out the power like it did last winter. I guess I hoped in vain, the power just went out. Well, at least I have my gas generator. Hafta make sure I put in ethanol free gas last time I filled the tank. But if I forget I think there is some sort of additive I can use that will prevent all the problems associated with ethanol in fuel. But wait! I have that diesel powered generator and it usually starts without needing the block heater plugged in. Cool. Oh no! My fuel is gelled! Now I hafta add some stuff to keep the fuel from gelling. Crap, it gets worse. Not only is the diesel gelled but it also has become infected with some sort of biological stuff, now the tank is full of some sort of sort of slime! No problem, I'm sure I can buy some stuff to pour into the tank to kill the biologics. Well, got the stuff killed but now I need to replace filters and bleed the system. And it's freezing out!

^^^^^
Preventive maintenance, all my diesel tanks get biocide routinely and anti-gel this time of year and one tank is blended and treated.
I use non ethanol fuel year round in my small engines.

in 25 years of living in cold north idaho, never oncehave i had diesel gell, never once have i had anything grow in my diesel tank, never once have i had my tractor, or 2 diesel trucks, not start due to cold, never once have i not been able to start my chainsaw, pressure washer or walk behind snowblower (using ethanol free gas). so i guess im doing something wrong. i should chuck it all and go battery powered.

but i have had to throw away alot of cordless batteries every few years from all my cordless tools for my business. this doesnt effect ecology in any way. i do recycle them at lowes or home depot if that means anything. oh, and i still have same chainsaw and power washer i purchased 25 years ago. i guess those pesky gas engines just refuse to die.

One thing a about cordless cars, you know, the ones that operate on gas, if you run out of gas out in the boondocks, you can always ask your buddy to bring you a gallon of it so you can get back home.

Not sure how your buddy would be able to bring you a can of battery power so you could get home.

I guess you missed it. Read post #57 s-l-o-w-l-y.
Besides, who would be foolish enough to head into the boondocks without checking their gas, and bring extra just in case? I think I hear banjos.

A friend who lives in Trukee, CA bought an EV in Sacramento, asked the salesman if they could make it home.
"How far?"
"115 - 125 miles."
"No problem."
Salesman hadn't considered it is uphill. Making it home was nip and tuck.

This year they made a road trip to town "C" via "A" and "B". When they got to "B: they realized they didn't have the charge to make it to "C".
No charging stations in "B", but fortunately they did make it back to "A" where they could re-charge (and charge a night in a motel).

Well if we're to look at it fairly, back in the oldey times, there were no gas stations around either...until there were.

Hey, I watched Star Trek as a kid. Just bring an extra bag of dilithium crystals with you! :)
