Cheap FEL cylinders keep bending

This has never happened on my Green tractor. This one probably assembled by a 'repeated 3rd grade student' with a cell phone in 1 hand and a pipe in the other.

It is cheaper and easier to eliminate the 4 link feature and extend the bucket cylinders while retaining the same boom for use (probably) on lower spec loaders.
Putting the boom part number in a 'where used' search may be helpful.
Same boom is used on the FL2814 loader....which DOES use the linkages.
Lift cylinders are the same but the curl cylinders have a different part #.
If it were me....Id be pressing the dealer to order and install all of the parts pertaining to the linkage and the cylinders spec'd for the 2814 loader. Thats if its determined that their idea of lengthening the rod and it can no longer handle system pressure without buckling. Still yet to be determined if this is operator error.

Looks like the absence of the pivot linkages is probably what is causing the issue, hopefully you get it worked out real soon.

I know Massey sent some cylinders out with the wrong diameter cylinder.
This caused a few to get bent up, about a year or so ago and replaced under warranty.
Don't think there were many of them though and not sure if FEL or BH, think BH.

Check Cylinder part numbers just in case.

Whether the linkages are there or not shouldn't make a difference with regard to the cylinder bending.

The linkages removed should make the bucket curl back more, and dump less...that's all.

Hitting mechanical stops before cylinder fully extended shouldn't cause this....infact you WANT the stops to be hit just shy of full extend.

The parts diagram, even with the linkage shows a short cylinder with extensions on both rod and base.

Piss poor design....and honestly....I'd be questioning my purchase and looking to either a different model or different brand

Agreed the whole loader is a complete design fail starting with the lower arm section being too long. The cylinder and linkage is a complete hack job. The bucket quick attach plate also appears to fit poorly. If they can’t make a loader any better than that I’d question the rest of tractor. BUT even if the loader was correctly built putting a stump bucket on a tractor is still a bad idea.

Been following this because it was concerning since I own a massey, not as big as this one but still concerning. After someone else suggested that the rod was already bent I looked at the video again. This is a blow up of the rod at the 4 second mark on the video. This is just before the bucket makes contact with the ground. You can tell when the bucket contacts the ground because the pressure causes the FEL frame to move upward. I don't know what others think of this but that rod looks like it was already bent to me.

Edit: This was clarified either earlier and I missed it or after I posted. Yes the rod was already bent because the rods originally bent before the video and then the OP attempted to straighten them and then took the video. So there is no way of knowing what condition the rods were in before the original bending.

if you guys read what i wrote, the op is in the ar link. he said it bent simply pushing the joystick up, the tractor was not moving.

he then created the video to show it happening again, while not moving.

for those of you who keep think parts are missing. you may want to do a google image search. there are multiple pictures of various tractors with the same linkage. The op is not missing parts.

Thats simply when he noticed it. How much prying....and rocking the tractor back and forth....while focused on the stump and not the cylinders happened before the video was taken.

The rod is ALREADY compromised in the video. Thus the column ratings of that rod are out the window and its on has a fraction of the buckle strength it once had. So shooting the video.....yea it bends easily under the tractors own power.

What I did NOT hear/read is that these were bran new freshly installed cylinders that saw NO action prior to the video being shot....if that were the case....then yea thats a problem.

Ironic I cannot find ANYTHING on masseys site for the 2750/2760e.

But I did find this video on their website that can hopefully put to rest whether its missing parts or not.

The video....paused at both 0:24 and 3:39 both show a FLx2815 loader and it does NOT have the linkages.

As I have said before, some loaders have them, some dont. But regardless, the cylinders should NEVER be capable of column buckling under their own hydraulic force.

The ONLY think that should cause column buckling is an outside force GREATER than the hydraulic force they are capable of.
And example of that is with the loader dumped all the way and attempting to back drag with the cutting edge. We have all seen that on here a time or two. But it should NEVER happen under the loaders own power.

I have to wonder though.....in the video the OP posted, if the cylinders werent already bent from said activity. The LONGER bucket would compound the forces if used while dumped and backdragging. Requiring less effort/traction to make the cylinders bend. It dont matter if its a stock bucket, or a 4' stump bucket, or hell a 10' long bucket....it should NEVER happen under its own hydraulic power. But it DOES matter if you are using tractive power, and the bigger (longer) the bucket the easier it happens.

So if these cylinders in that video were already compromised.....THEN and ONLY THEN can I see the tractor being able to do that with hydraulic power alone.

Is the tractor owner a member here? CoTHg is this your tractor or someone you know? Can you direct him here....on a tractor forum where he may get more help than on a AR15 forum?

The following are the screenshots of the video on massey's own website showing no linkages or missing parts

In the video, it looks like that the loader with the pivots is used for pushing and loader type work, and the pivotless one is used for lifting only. Even though you see the pivotless one with a bucket, its never shown actually being used to shovel.

There is only so much a cylinder rod will take. If the "scoop" had only been used to lift at the tip I doubt you would have had an issue. Pushing down on the tip exerts a lot of force on the rod. Imagine pulling up on the front edge of the standard bucket and the hydraulic pressure created within the cylinder. Now imagine putting a 5' cheater bar on the bucket and lifting up and see how much hydraulic pressure it creates trying to compress the cylinder.
