A bit off topic, but I thought I'd put these here because they are the product of me spending
months learning to use that dilapidated, antique sawmill I was given.
I'm not overly pleased with the lumber I turned out but it was a huge learning curve. Random
sizes (I solved that human error in the last 6 logs) and lack of knowledge.
I just have to back-fill and after that I will know if I need to sink some vertical beams for rigidity.
I hope not because I can't beg or borrow a 3pt hole auger anywhere. The one available to me by
the guy who gave me all the machinery has no PTO shaft.
There's some satisfaction in knowing that without a clue how to do any of this I cut trees down,
milled it into usable lumber, and made something.
The wall in the pic is around 48 ft long. I need to add one more length in the spring. It's been raining
more often than not here and no sign of letting up, so that's enough till spring. I have other winter prep
things to do.
Another hundred feet of wall next year as well.
(above)That end piece is just a random bit leaning there for no reason.
(below)I had trouble with my sprayer near the end so it needs to be finished
off too. The spot in the middle that looks like something rotten is an oily rag.
Thank you to all here at TBN who helped me learn to use my mill. Greatly appreciated !!
