It honestly doesn't make much sense to me. The best I can tell it's nothing but a money racket system created by the court system to keep lawyers busy. When I would get a ticket, my wife would always know because literally the next day in the mail I would get at least 10 letters from lawyers for about 3 days in a row. It was uncanny how quick they found out about it (and all from lawyers in the county where the infraction happened).

Is it true in Indian that if you get a ticket while driving, you only have 15 days to enter in your "plea"? In NC it's due the court day, which is generally 2 to 3 months after the ticket was issued.

At the end of the day, a lawyer in NC will generally run you around $200 for a moving violation (plus court costs). General total bill around $350. Perhaps I'm wrong in my line of thinking, but I'd rather pay that than just plead guilty (which I am of course) than run the risk of having my insurance go up and have the ticket on my record. Now, from what I gather, if you get multiple tickets a year, the court will put the hammer to you (never got more than one every couple of years when I did have a heavier foot so I guess I'm lucky that I don't know where they draw the line).
I have no idea about the ticket system in Indiana anymore. As I said, in my youth I had some doozies. And learned my lesson. I recall walking into the courthouse, up to a window, paying my ticket, and walking away. Insurance generally increased at the next billing and went down after 2 years (well, never really went down. it never goes down. It just didn't increase as much). Haven't had a speeding ticket since sometime before 1985. While I will occasionally feel the need for speed, I know a few stretches of deserted road that I can check before doing my speed runs. No traffic. No side road. No driveways. Just a mile stretch of open road. In traffic, I generally set my cruise for the flow and am resigned to getting there when I get there.

I have a few relatives that have had speeding tickets and/or DWI's in more recent years. They hired lawyers, took defensive drving classes, kept infraction free for a time period, and had the tickets reduced to 4 points and no mention of DWI or reckless.

As you mentioned, that seems scamish. But that's how they played the game.

One thing that got me out of the habit of not watching my speed was to start using the cruise control. Make it a habit. Get up to 5 over, set the cruise and off you go. I use it all the time. This is one reason I like Chevy's. Cruise doesn't have to be activated before you press set. If it was activated the last time you drove the car, it's still activated, whereas Fords, Toyota and some others, every time you start the car, you have to activate it before you can set it. One less button push on the Chevy.

Anyhow. I use it in the city, on the highway, etc. Some places I can't use it are winding or hilly roads where the speed varies too much, but for the most part, I'd guess 80% of my driving is done with cruise control.

You kinda have to get out of the aggressive gotta get there on my terms mentality and just resign yourself to complying with the rules of society. Boy, that sounds horrible. :ROFLMAO: Get out of my way you old bag!!! :ROFLMAO:

Home run, good one. My first and only speeding ticket at age 18 was a good one too. Going 96 in a 55 zone. State trooper said “follow me”. Huh? Aren’t you going to write me a ticket? “Just follow me” he said. ??? So I followed him to ….. the county jail. Thankfully I never saw the inside of a cell but it did take an older friend signing a property bond to release me. I finally told my parents about it 30 years later.

I haven't had any of those issues on ours. Can always look up and watch a family members drive in real-time with speeds updated as the trip progresses. Usually speed has been accurate withing 1 or 2 mph.
It was like that with our phones till the blasted internet issues. I'm thinking it's probably getting close to that time we update to newer model phones.

Years ago my wife fell asleep while driving down I81, with our boys in the back seat in car seats. She hit rumble strip which woke her, but overcorrected and ended up rolling the car end for end backwards. No one else involved. She was charged with reckless driving and faced quite a few points. I was overseas when it happened. Very lucky no one was killed.
We got a local lawyer to plead her case. After appearing in court behind people caught driving with unregistered handguns, and all kinds of worse stuff, the judge just asked if anyone else was involved, “no” , any prior record, “no”, was she speeding?, “no”.. he threw out all charges, no points, just had to pay court costs. Hiring the local attorney helped a lot I believe.
We drove by the accident site today, and I always point it out.

Im not sure I'd pay for an attorney for traffic court. Most states have a program where you can get deferred prosecution. Pay a fine and if you stay out of trouble for a set period of time the ticket is dismissed. Hell most counties have that on their website and you can just apply on line and not even go to court.

Here is the info for my home county.

I have a Trackr on my tractor. It seems to be good as far as location but speed was WAY off.
I traveled at 70 mph and it said I was going 117. Sorry I can't help with what works but this is one I would avoid.

70 mph is 112 kilometers. Are you sure you were reading the units right?

I got to give him some credit, he called his mom as he got to work after he got his ticket. He said it was his fault, he will pay for the lawyer, he'll pay the ticket, and however it hits our insurance, he is covering it.

The nice think is he's a great worker and has saved enough money over the year that he's already turned down a used Z4 and mustang (with his own money) after my mechanic told him what it would cost to get up to snuff.

For kid who works 35 hours a week and goes to high school, he seems to have it down.

Locally you can pay to go to some completely ridiculous driving school which cost $105 when I had to go and your record stays clean. No lawyer and no insurance involved. Does that option not exist there?

Why don't you go ahead and get a chip implanted in the driver's so you can monitor and control them at all times?
