Back ordered equipment or parts?

funny...i have a broken rear shock that i just found on my 1994 dodge ram diesel. never felt anything. only reason i noticed it is because it finally crimped the wire feeding the shell light and the fuse kept blowing. the bracket on the frame broke. just how important is a rear shock on a truck that never goes offroad. only use 4x4 in the snow on roads?

The shock is just supposed to prevent the spring from oscillating. If that starts up then the back can jump up and down & you lose control. So the OEM shock is there more for highway speeds, washboards, and heavy loads than for off-road or slower speed in the snow.

There are combination "heavy duty offroad" shocks sold that have an additional spring built into the shock absorber. Bad idea. Those are well known for breaking shock mounts.

Without one rear shock functional, if you don't drive it at highway speeds or with a load you'll be OK. If you have, you've been lucky. Expect it may bounce some.

Might ask yourself why the bracket broke. Most of the ones I've fixed broke mounting brackets because OEM shocks were replaced with heavy duty type.

Your welcome. BTW, it's kind of difficult to get a good repair on a shock bracket. Find someone who knows what they are doing.

Mines been broken 6 months. Finally came in. I wouldnt have known it was broken if the shock absorber oil didn’t leak out on the pavement

ABS controller for 2011 Silverado going on 11 months now. GM national backorder with no delivery estimate. I guess they figure that a 60k truck is disposable at 10 yrs

At some point, I would source a used one.

Cant wait to hoist a 5 G pail up 4 feet to fill tractor….
NAPA store told me Shell Rotella back ordered until January!
Put the 5 G pail in your tractor bucket and use a siphon.
/edit - the Rotella T4 web page doesn't show a 10W40.
Shows 15W40 and 10W30.

A lot more oil gets sold in 5 gallon buckets than gets poured directly into an engine from that bucket.
You'll figure something out.
Talk about a first world problem.
