My frame mount.View attachment 724766
I'd be very happy to have a front 3pt. I had to fabricate the frame mounting for the push bar (the "normal" pickup mounting)
With the plow up tight to the tractor, steering is not a problem with heavy snow and makes for a much shorter rig but I'm doing driveways.
You lost the front loader capability in the bargain. Never been a fan of split plows anyway.

Here is my current set up; L4060 HSTC with a Meyers 8.5 foot commercial plow that came from a Maryland State Highway Dept. auction. I bought the plow from an individual for $400.00 (score!) with the electric power unit and no mount.

The plow was designed to be hooked up from the cab using a hydraulic cylinder to raise it into the truck mount. I made up a mount for the tractor and I use the loader valve to control the blade for power angle and lift. The mount cylinder is controlled by the same remote valve I use to control my grapple. Once the blade is mounted a pin is used to stop the cylinder from drifting.

I like this set up much more than the previous one I had using a Meyer 7.5 foot plow and way more than my original set up using the blade attached to the loader arms. I found that set up to be so long it made maneuvering hard and because the tractor is not very heavy it would move the tractor from side to side due to the long lever effect of the blade being so far out front.

Front chains cure that issue. Wrong tires too. You need R1 radials, not R4's and no FEL, a necessary evil for me.

A V plow is pretty much a must have here in snow country (Maine). I have driveways that are up hill in to them and would be impossible with a straight blade, not to mention the several "whoppers" each season. I've got other machines for loader work in the winter, but that's really only for firewood making in my situation. The un plowed areas stay snow covered until spring.

That is a nice setup. If a person doesn't need a loader on a tractor a short mounted blade would be very handy.
Just one thing I would add would be some bracing going back to either the drawbar mounting or the rear axles were a loader would mount and push from. On the larger Ag tractors that have push blades they all have braces that run to the rear of the tractors.
A great many years ago my snow plows on the old Scouts had a brace that attached to the frame behind the transfer case.

It does have a brace going back, but not very far. On my 3010 I had a brace that went back to the loader mount, but I found that it was not really needed. If you look at the old Meyers set ups all they ever did was a straight vertical mount bolted to the frame and the cross piece the blade mounted to. As for the ag tractors; pushing dirt is far different than pushing snow.

It only takes a few minutes to take the loader off or put it back on, but I found that a loader is a very inefficient tool for snow removal. The key is to plow with the storm and to keep in mind where you are going to put the next storm.

I like the angle swing location of the cylinders but... It needs wheels, not skids for pavement operation.

Oooh. That's simple yet fancy. I like it. And you can get wheeled pneumatic casters for those skid mount locations.
