I think I am dealing with something other than ignorance in you pal. You obviously do not understand much. Below is an excerpt from you link? It says nothing about "lines" storing energy. What are you missing in your own link?

At present, the U.S. has about 24.6GW (approx. 2.3% of total electric production
capacity) of grid storage, 95% of which is pumped storage hydro.1 Europe and Japan
have notably higher fractions of grid storage. Pursuit of a clean energy future is
motivating significantly increased storage development efforts in Europe and Asia, as
well as the U.S.
Energy storage technologies—such as pumped hydro, compressed air energy storage,
various types of batteries, flywheels, electrochemical capacitors, etc., provide for
multiple applications:

You're sticking to wires = grid.

It's a little more nuanced that that.

YOU said "lines." The grid has storage, but not in "lines." That is why I asked what you were talking about.

But now that we have resolved that, peace pal. Merry Christmas.

Consider you are dealing with a thread troll that's not as ignorant as though he may seem to be. :)

I don't want to get in the middle of an argument but if you change:
"There is 24.6 GWH of storage in the Grid."
to:
"There is 24.6 GWH of power available in the Grid."
Then it makes sense. Power is generated at the source (nuclear, solar, coal, natural gas, wind,etc.). The grid wires then distribute that power via wires. IF there are other things along the way adding power into the grid like a solar array for example then that increases available power within the grid system.
Wires do not ADD power into the grid, the opposite is true. Wires because of resistance drop voltage.
With a meter measure voltage at an outlet.
Plug in a 50 ft. extension cord with light bulb, heater, etc. at the end. Measure THAT voltage and it will be less than source (outlet). The more load the less voltage.

Sure, I would have never mentioned the ignorance thing if he hadn't first. One should not attack personally unless one is ready to defend one's self. But it's all good. I think we have it figured out. :)

The grid is our storage capacity in this nation.

The grid needs to be addressed long before we focus on generation.

Thanks for your help in spreading EV evolution understanding.

In 1933 James Thurber's Aunt would screw light bulbs in sockets because "electricity is leaking all over the house".
