For most of us who haven't served on a board advising on grid expansion, 'grid' has the common use of the word - just the wires. The other components of a system will have their own words.

'Grid' as the whole picture - planning, generating, storage, distribution, maintenance, real-time management, SYSTEM, is a speciaist's (and/or troll's!) use of a common word that generally only someone familiar with the subject, will appreciate in its magnificence.

Anyhow, this is a great thread and I'm learning a lot from it.

Semantics is about the only play for many to come and play in the sand box, I agree.
