There seems to be a motivation from some to perpetuate the hysteria about Covid. What is the survival rate, still about 99.9%?
According to the CDC, the death toll so far in the US is about 0.18%, but that's still almost 810,000 people dead from CoVid 19. We've seen two peaks big enough that the local hospital's intensive care facilities were overwhelmed, and they had to convert other wards to accommodate all the patients. Staff were working double shifts, with no time off. Many quit, which left fewer caregivers to handle the load. The troubled times in which we find ourselves now are largely due to the ongoing negative impacts of CoVid-19. In my county, a little less than half the people have not been vaccinated, and our death toll is closer to 1.5%. And it's no wonder, because very few are masking, distancing, and sanitizing in public. I don't believe in mandates, but by now it's pretty clear you can't fix stupid, either.

Glad to see you are still among the living PJS. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Thanks, Buppies. Yup, still on the green side of the grass. Sometimes, life just gets in the way of the fun stuff, and before you know it, you're 10 pages deep in missed posts. Been busier than normal at work (big changes starting to happen here, and for the better, I believe), and kept thinking that I'd get caught up before posting again. That didn't work out at all.

Hope you are well, too.

Good morning to all! Low of 27, going up to near 50. Yesterday was really windy, a gust here at 54. A bit further south near Ruidoso, there was an 83 mph gust. Today should have wind in the 30 mph range.

RNG, thanks for diverting some of the rain..... we got almost 3/4" total on Christmas eve. Another little spot of energy is headed for us on Wednesday, maybe some light snow possible.

Everyone here enjoyed another fabulous holiday dinner. For once, I didn't stuff myself and act like an elephant seal on the beach..... I have been monitoring portion sizes and eating our largest meal earlier in the day..... it has been working very good, stepping on the scale, I have lost 29 lbs over the last 2 months. I need to loose another 15-20 lbs to reach my goal of 195 lbs.

No work done yesterday, just didn't want to fight the wind. More shop time is on the agenda for today. And.... whatever else gets suggested by the wifey. We may pack up the interior decorations (I made the mistake of reading Bird's post to the wifey, so the seed was sown).

I happened to look out at the outdoor hydrant yesterday morning..... and it was turned on... OH NO ! Yep, it was turned on and the drip irrigation was going strong.... we couldn't remember if I was running the drip last Wednesday or Thursday..... and it has been on since then. I am guesstimating about 3500 gals distributed over the timeframe, maybe a bit more. I'll find out when the bill comes in!

Everyone have a great day!

43 and cloudy, rain expected later. Warming mid week.
Had a decent Christmas with the in-laws and outlaws. My kids and grandkids are coming this weekend., I hope. My daughter in law and youngest grandson have Covid, they’re at the end of the isolation period, neither was very sick. The older brother had it a couple of months back. So my son is the only one that hasn’t had it in his house. My daughter, son in law and middle grandson have dodged it.

I’ve got to move one of the trailers later, I was hoping it would warm up a bit but it doesn’t look like it’s going to. I have to move the other two to get it where I want it. Not a big deal with the tractor, just cold and I’m a sissy
any more.

My old iPhone 7+ is glitching and charging and discharging erratically, I’m afraid it’s going to crash so I ordered a pair of iPhone 12’s to replace them. I hope they’ll last 4.5 years like these have.

My cataract is acting up again so I’ll schedule surgery for it as soon as find out when my cancer surgery is going to be.

Buppies that sounds like a good time.

You folks have a good day.

successful trip to Hyundai dealer, took them some donuts and that 10mm wrench; they appreciated both.
Turns out local guy could not have changed the bulb for me, as the bulb socket had burned out. That seems odd but then I did remember
one time briefly smelling something burning. Surprised it didn't pop a breaker. So they replaced the bulb socket and bulb, said they would charge it to
the used car dept, and off I went with a no charge.

light snow is working its way into the area, a "wintry mix" as they say.
I have a 2pm appt at church this afternoon with snow plow guy, timely for sure.

63°F and .58 inches rain.

One of those “maybe” days ahead. Maybe go visit a friend to see their progress. Maybe Rey I’ll part of the garden if dry enough, maybe make some progress in caretaker unit. Or maybe just call it an energy conservation day decisions, decisions!

Don’t think I got into a real good sleep last night, more of an almost, light sleep.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

No dump run today, since stepdaughter went to the ER due to a UTI of some sort
I did move the trash bags and such to the garage door so it'll be easier to load the truck tomorrow
Now, I have a doctor's appointment at 0800 tomorrow, for them to explain the results of an echocardiogram I had a couple weeks ago.
Basically, $50-$150 so they can explain the results, when all I need to hear is "OK" or "Not OK"

wngsprd said, "Bird, I don't drink a lot of milk, but it's always skim. We used to milk our goats, which has an even higher fat content than cow's milk."

When I was a kid, I wanted, and finally got, a goat. Had her bred and was waiting to have my own milk goat. However, and uncle was having some health problems and his doctor recommended goat milk at that time. He and my aunt only live a couple of doors from my grandparents, so I let my granddad have my goat, and he did the milking and provided it to my aunt and uncle.

However, he didn't give them ALL the milk so when we kids visited I usually drank goat's milk. My younger brother thought goat milk would be terrible and he wanted no part of it. But one day at lunch, we're sitting at the table, me with goat milk and him with cow milk, and when he wasn't watching, I swapped glasses with him. He drank all that goat milk without ever knowing it was goat milk until I told him when it was all gone.

If you set 2 glasses side by side, the cow milk had a slighly more yellow tint, or you could say the goat milk was whiter. I really couldn't care less which I was drinking.

41F and supposedly foggy (but I ain't seeing it) @ 13:30, heading up to a high of 55F. Some light rain in the area.

Bird feeders due to be refilled today, also trash and recycling day - so those will need to be taken up to the road.

Yesterday morning I trimmed back most of the frost-damaged and dead growth on the Woman's petunias:

It's showing some evidence of new growth, so when that gets a little bigger I'll trim it back even further.

These plants seem to be making a nice comeback as well, even the one at the left center of the image:

And finally the last White Feather hosta has finally poked up above the soil:

Will give them some more time to grow and get a little bigger before I re-pot them into individual pots.

Took a colander yesterday and used it to further screen the screened compost to make up some fine potting soil.

Then got 8 Zinnia, 25+ Coleus, 25+ Catnip, and 25+ Catmint seeds planted in 32 peat pots. Then bagged them all in gallon zip-lock bags to retain humidity until they germinate.

All the seeds (besides the Zinnias) were very tiny ... hardly any more than a speck of dust. Used a small plastic pipette to suck up a few at a time and place them into the pots.

The Squeak is wanting to know when that Catnip and Catmint will be ready:

Evidently the parsley just isn't doing it for her ...

Woman says she thinks she's over the hump at this point with whatever she had which is no doubt good news. Will have to see if I can persuade her to go get tested today.

Not sure what all is on her agenda for the rest of the day but I'm sure there will be something.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)
