Well to get the winch under water don't you have to get the lower half of the ATV under water?
I have floated my atv multiple times. right up to the air snorkels. some of the trails I did, required it.

3 bearings, couple seals, drum to disk brake conversion, was about it.

2002 Honda Rancher ES. 7k miles on it.

Cool. I've never had an ATV that would float.

did you actually try? they get very tippy, but almost all of them would. the only atv's with issues was generally belt cvt, as the vents for the belt were too low. you pretty much only have a foot above water. exhaust etc was about a foot under, and if you let off the throttle. you were done.

I can honestly say I've never tried to "float" any of my ATVs. I have witnessed a few enter deep water without knowing it was coming. None of them "floated" without the operator trying desperately to hold them up. First thing they want to do is roll over on their back since the flotation is the tires.

But if you have successfully floated your ATV 100 times and it's survived, kudos.

no maybe about 10 times I floated it, but the atv winch routinely goes underwater for river crossings/ ditches etc, we live in rivers and forest up here.
