Was perusing YT and ran across on a promotional video on the newest to be launched Maersk container ships. The engines will be fueled with methanol. Found that interesting. Wasn't aware you could run a diesel on it, guess you can.

The John Munson leaving Duluth. From the description.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the John G. Munson departing Duluth, Minnesota on the evening of December 19, 2021 with a load of taconite she picked up at the Canadian National dock in West Duluth. If you are a regular watcher to this channel, you will have already seen her arrival in Duluth just before sunrise the same day. If not, you can go here to see her arrival: https://youtu.be/TPrRn9G7LXM The video starts with the Munson shortly after she left the CN dock, with her passing by the Midwest Energy Terminal on the Superior side of the harbor. She then passes under the John A. Blatnik bridge at Rice's Point, pushing her way through the (mostly) loose harbor ice. (If you listen carefully, you can hear the ice scraping across her bow.) We then catch up with the Munson at Canal Park, where she passes under the Aerial Lift Bridge, exchanging a master salute with the bridge. Due to the cold temperatures, the Munson's horn is more of a low growl than the deep blast we hear in the summer months. One other thing to note is that as the Munson lines up for the Aerial Lift Bridge, you'll see the colorful Christmas lights from Bentleyville reflecting off of the Munson's port side. Bentleyville is a holiday village that is set up annually in Duluth's Bayfront Park, usually running from Thanksgiving to a few days after Christmas.

Still plenty of boats on our lake. I just counted 15. I've not checked to see when the Soo locks get shut down but it must be soon.

OK, I found its January 15th.
-------------------------------------------------------
MARIE, Mich., – The Soo Locks' MacArthur Lock will close to marine traffic on Dec. 15 through April 30, 2022 to perform critical maintenance. The Poe Lock will remain open until Jan. 15 or until commercial traffic ceases, whichever occurs first.Dec 6, 2021

When I was a kid, I worked at an airport. A co-worker and I installed some aircraft landing lights behind the grill of my Nova. As I recall, they pulled around 20 amps each. You could feel the heat from about 5' away. I couldn't leave them on too long as:
1. they'd drain the battery
2. they'd melt the grill

My Daylighters might be more, I took a stab at the power consumption. They get real hot too. They have to have their own power source and a relay. They'd melt an ordinary switch.

Some of the brightest LED's are wicked too. I have a set of 2 multi LED Cree's on my one tractor and you can easily see 1/2 mile with them. They come with large integrated heat sinks, I presume for the drivers.

I know it physically hurts to look into them when they are on.
