So is that a 6" diameter round split once or 6" across a split side to make a 6 X 6 square or 6 X 6 X 6 triangle ? Seems big for a stove but maybe you are talking wood furnace ??

gg
It was with a "triangle" shape. Good point about wood stove size.
I have a Quadrafire 5700 w 3 cu ft box and it swallows these sizes.

Good thing I don't have a boss worried about making the daily quota though.

On the other hand if I worked fast someone might want to hire me.

The mere fact that you "worked" would make you a prime labor hire.

I had such a boss. I think he was in his early to mid 30's when he hired me. Always "strung tight" as a violin and miserable and dead at 54 of a heart attack.
My most pleasurable moments as a logger was when I was in the woods and he wasn't.

If one recalls, the wood stoves back in the 80's were merely steel boxes with air inlets for combustion.
They were "huge". No glass with names like Timberline, Fisher and "All Nighter".
You could put a mother-in-law in one of these.

:ROFLMAO: . . . I still have one, (the stove).

Grew up with a Papa Bear Fisher stove. The house is still in the family and the stove is still going strong. The door still passes the dollar test for tight closure (amazing since there is no gasket).

Back when I lived in Missouri I had what was called a Longwood stove, more of a furnace actually as it was hooked into my ductwork. It was dual fuel kind of, not only would it burn 5 foot long logs but it had a kerosene injector that would start those logs and the turn off when it got to temperature, in a pinch you could use it for a short time with no wood burning only the kerosene. As far as the wood, it had a 5 foot long fire box about 18-20" in diameter, had a roller built in at the bottom of the door which would aid in loading the logs! Also it was tied into my thermostat which would open/close the damper to regulate heat.. pretty cool actually.

How old was it? I also have a Montag cook stove that was original to this house (1910), that has a kerosene "summer" part of it so not to heat the house up in the summer when cooking.

I do not know how old it was, it was about 25 years ago. Google it, seems like a bunch of stuff out there about it.
