Tractor
Bx24
Hey guys,
I’m excited as I have just purchased a BX24 TLB and I’m looking wondering what trailer works best without breaking the bank. I’m very familiar with tongue weight, weight distribution, strapping the tractor down. I also understand the difference between the axel, payload and gross weight. I can compare the specs on the tractor and make sure the trailer is big and strong enough. I have looked at a bunch of forums on here already. My question is can y’all please recommend the make and model trailer that works well for the Kubota BX24 TLB?
Thank you

I think for the most part you will find out that trailers are regionally manufactured. There are some national companies but some of the best trailers are made locally. I know I wouldn't own most of the big name trailers after buying mine that was made a few miles from me. It's just immpossible to get the same quality and price.

Generally, you're going to want a trailer that is closest to the maximum trailer that your vehicle can handle. Presumably that will be in excess of the capacity that is required for the tractor alone.

that gives you more flexibility in carrying other items, and may help in resale of the trailer down the road.

then just look at local dealers or on Craigslist

just my thoughts.....

Nice tractor! And welcome to the Forum. (y)

Having your location in your profile helps a lot. Especially if you're looking for something local to you.

I agree with the previous posts. Local is typically best but wear old clothes so you can crawl under it check for paint and welds on the under side.

What are you towing it with and do you have any other uses for the trailer that might sway the decision one way or the other.

You only have a ~3000lb machine. Its a little big (and harder to get balanced tongue weight) for a single axle trailer.
That pushes you to a tandem axle....and those are typically 7k trailers on the low end with ~5000-6000 lbs of payload. Which is more than plenty.

Consider if you ever plan on hauling other things like a car.

In general I'd try and avoid the mesh landscape ramps unless they are reinforced where the tires will track.

A 16' general purpose car-type trailer would be my choice.

I've hauled my BX2200 without MMM and bucket on my little single axle without issue.

Adding the loader and a MMM and you've got a TLB, that weighs double.

It's best to go with a tandem axle 5-6k. This is normally what I use when hauling my machine with the front loader and MMM or with an implement like my flail mower.

Also make sure your vehicle is equipped with a trailer brake controller and the correct connectors.

As others have said, the things you need to think about are:

What tow vehicle and what is the GVW on it;

Tandem axle with brakes;

Location of tie down points, Can you add E-track?

The friend I bought my tractor set up from, opted for a fairly long, 24-ft, trailer. That allowed him to load implements in front of the tractor if he was taking it somewhere. Longer trailers are easier to back, but take a lot more room to do it in.

Look for used trailers if you don’t mind doing a little work, there are some real deals.

My friend got the trailer dirt cheap, at an auction, because the masonry company that had owned it had overloaded it enough to de-arc the springs, and the wooden deck was worn out. We stripped it down, and he bought new decking from a local mill, and while we had it stripped down, we repainted it with a rust converting primer and a couple of catalyzed color coats, and then re-wired it and installed new LED lights. He figured out that the axles were bent, and bought new 3500-lb axles with brakes on both of them. He ended up with an equipment trailer that is far nicer than any he saw when he shopped for new ones.

I haul my '24 on a 16' tandem ramp trailer built by Tuff Trailer locally. Tow it with half ton Silverado and it does a fine job.

I'm a minority of 1 I suspect but I prefer hydraulic surge disc brakes on my boat and tractor trailers. Had the 'Tuff built that way and don't regret it.

Enjoy that new machine,
Z.

I have a BX, and bought a 20' trailer to haul it with 2 3500 lbs axles. The trailer is a good match for my half ton truck, and will max out my truck's capabilities.

I built removable side planks which have turned out to be VERY much so appreciated and I hardly remove them now.

20' is by no means too much. Even with a small tractor it doesn't take long to fill it out. I find myself loading up and hauling the loader bucket and my 42" forks, box blade, now I've bought a landscape rake that I can see myself also needing to take ok occasion. If the tow vehicle can handle it and you can afford it at the time of purchase, the extra length is nice!

I was actually shopping for a trailer first for other (non tractor) needs, so I knew exactly what I wanted in a trailer. Just wound up with a tractor too.

It's built by a local outfit "Hudson Brothers" that is a well known and respected trailer manufacturer in these parts.
