My understanding is new hires no longer have as generous retirement benefits...

Generally no, health care had gotten so expensive that most private employers dropped that generous benefit for qualified retirees years ago. There are some exceptions I’m sure particularly in union shops.

I seriously doubt it but while you are working after becoming Medicare eligeble it is usually less expensive
and may cover more.

Yes, I know. Medicare is a pain. It's how the government claw back the money they have to pay you for Social Security.

Yep, Medicare first, Tri-Care second. We're very Blessed to not have serious medical issues to test the efficiency of payment on both. Monthly fees, our costs went up when we both got on Medicare. Paying 7 times as much now as before Medicare.

Wow, that's a big hit from Medicare and you have to pay every month for Part B and other add ons even if you stay healthy and don't need to make a single claim for the rest of your life.

I'm turning 65 in a few weeks and trying to understand what to do about the Medicare enrollment, I'm still working and plan to for another year or so. I've received different information regarding enrollment, some say I don't have to enroll now and they mention a SEP (special enrollment period) for the Plan B that allows me to wait and not get penalized. I'm told that I must enroll for the main Medicare now and wait for the plan B, the Medicare website is not clear on the SEP and when to enroll or if there's a special form to complete.
If I must enroll in Medicare now, what happens with my employers insurance, will there be an issue with having both and who pays for any medical expense?

Enroll now. Your insurance will coordinate with Medicare as the primary insurer, just like if you had other private insurance. Talk to your employer insurance rep. There should also be information seminars in your area. Look for them.

You joking or what? One implant would set you back $5,000. And pray that it doesn't fall out later due to infection or gum disease. Dentists don't give money back guarantees.

No . . . $35,000.00 for it all about 3 years ago or so . . . (I get my old age and military discounts of course ).

Implants for 32 teeth? Like I said, they can still fall out even if they won't decay, chip or crack like natural teeth. So, watch your gum lines and keep them clean.
