I'm going to cancel my Amazon prime after 10 yrs. It still takes about 5 business days (sometimes longer) to get packages. At $130 / yr it doesn't seem worth it.
1300 bucks would have paid for a boatload of shipping. I have never gotten Prime, total waste of money. If I need something that bad, I go to the store and buy it. I always take free shipping and if it's not free, I don't buy it. Prime is a total rip off. My other issue is, the Prime delivery drivers are idiots. Drive over your lawn, leave packages laying in the driveway and best of all don't deliver stuff but mark it delivered anyway.

Prime membership has worked out well for us. We order a lot of things from Amazon that we would otherwise have to travel to town to get and so we save on gas and time. And because we don't go to town that often, we get the items faster through Amazon than we would when we stack enough errands up to merit a trip to town. So, for us it is very convenient, but I agree the shipping is not quite as prompt as it used to be - I think they started saying that the "two day" shipping guarantee ran from when it was shipped not when it was ordered. We are not usually in a rush to get most things so that is not an issue - but the free shipping is important. Given how much we order we easily save the membership cost due to the free shipping.

And, with Prime you get Prime video - and even though I don't watch a lot of TV, we probably access 3-4 movies a month from that app. I think you can also get some music free - but I have not looked into that.

Adding this: When we order something to ship to our daughter (Carlsbad Ca) she will typically get it the next day. So where you live affects delivery - but even here in the country it is only a few days.

I also went through the Amazon Prime issues, my opinion it’s a big scam and Amazon controls it .
I unsuccessfully canceled it twice online , after all that trouble I called my credit card and they gave me this Amazon customer service number 888-280-4331 and it still took a couple months to get all my Amazon Prime money refunded.
Thanks for the number. I'll try that when I have more time--experience tells me to expect a long hold time. I couldn't even find a way to email them.

I was able to cancel it online without any hassle, but this problem came up.

I don't care for Bezos, but our Amazon shipping has been great in the city. If that changes when we get into the new place, I will reevaluate.

Somehow I got signed up for Amazon Prime when I placed an order a few weeks ago. I immediately cancelled it, but somehow ended up with a month of free trial. Now, when I go to checkout, I get only the option of signing up for Prime or paying for shipping. They advertise free shipping for orders over $25, but I am not offered that. I have been unable to ask the question on the site. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I love Amazon prime. I order lots of small items that would cost more to ship than the price. I definitely get more than $130 in value over a year. Seems like local stores have poor products selection or are sold out. I used to play the game of driving to multiple stores to find what I’m looking for. Now I go to one store to try to buy locally. If they don’t have it or say they can order it, then Amazon is shipping it to me in two days, unlike the two or thee weeks that local stores quote me.

Years back I could almost bet the pricing with free shipping was competitive. Now, I seem to be often reminded that the shipping is not "free", and sometimes the pricing is crazy high.

About the time Covid became widespread, next day shipping became next week. Or worse!

So...I now often price shop when using Amazon Prime.

Rotterdam isn't too happy with him and his new yacht. (What ship builder would build a ship too big for a known bridge between the build dock and the open sea?)


I just ordered a $29 item, shipped by Amazon. With my $15 in available points, the total was around $14 with taxes. Free shipping since the item total was over $25.

That problem is definitely localized. We get many things same or next day. Maybe because Texas?
