How tight should loader pin nuts be on a CK2610 (KL4030C loader)? Is there a torque spec?

I just noticed I was getting a lot of grease coming out of the pin faces when I tried greasing the loader on specific areas (mostly the rear pins closest to the seat) and that some of the nuts holding the pins were quite loose. I went around and tightened them "snug" with a 36mm wrench. Is there an actual torque rating I should aim for? I was abit worried i could over tighten and interfere with the smooth operation of the loader.

Hello Mangler: I'm a bit lost by your statement, and can only infer a KL4030C is significantly different than a KL4030QA. Your pins have 36mm nuts securing them?

Can you post a picture of the pin in question? I’ve never seen a retainer pin anything close to that big.

As far as I know, those nuts are only for retention and shouldn't be tight. Or even snug for that matter.

Thanks, maybe I mispoke and they are not the pin nuts? They are the large nuts that keep all the loader joints together. I figure if they are too loose, would that not encourage side to side play when using the loader?

A picture would be worth a thousand words.

I havent seen a nut that big on a compact loader.

Most of the loaders either use a small 6mm or 8mm retaining bolt through the pin perpendicular....or they have a flat teardrop shape tab with a smaller bolt that retains the pin.

Again, pictures are worth a thousand words

Its a lock nut. Dont need to be tight.

IF you try and torque it to some ungodly spec you will deform your loader post and possibly bind the pin.

Again, its a lock nut.....all it does is keep the pin from falling out.

Those just need to be snug and nothing more. You’ll deflect the loader ears if you over tighten them. It looks like the loaded ears already are bent to the inside.

Thanks I would consider them snug now, they were quite loose in some cases. Not sure how the ear got bent, but it was not from me snugging the nuts. I put maybe 15lbft on them, if that.

What would contribute to having grease flow out of the face when I am greasing the pins? It is very obvious on some locations, and in others it is not an issue. You can see a little in this picture.
