Hi all,
I have a Mahindra 4010 HST that has around 900 hours on it. Up until this weekend it has been working pretty well. Couple things here and there such as sticky forward/reverse pedals, etc.. Yesterday I was moving some sand around and it seemed to have lost power. When in low gear and 4wd on, I can put the bucket down to back scrape and it will hardly move in reverse. I have a chain harrow that I use to drag my sand arena, went to drag it yesterday and it would hardly move forward with that load on the rear. I did notice that if i raised the bucket when back dragging it would speed up after a few seconds of rolling backwards, until i hit soft ground then it would slow back down again.

I greased the pedals and sprayed some WD-40 on all the pivot points where the pedals are, but that did not help or make any difference. I feel there is something going on. Fluid was full and recently changed. I'm stumped and this is a bad time of the year to not have my tractor operational. Got a load of round bales of hay coming this week.

Thanks in advance

Any signs of leaking fluid. That could reduce your hydraulic pressure.

Does it work OK in 2 wheel drive?
FEL work OK?

So it operates the same in 2wd or 4wd. There some fluid leaking out. Looked a little earlier. Seems to be coming from where the rear housing is bolted to the middle. Hard to tell with all the dirt and gunk.

FEL operates as it should as does 3 point hitch, although if I am lifting the rear when I move the loader the rear stops lifting.

I also noticed over time that if I leave the 3 point attachment up and turn off tractor it slowly lowers itself.

It could be as simple as a blown/leaky hose. If your 3 pt drops so it is almost a certainty IMO. Talk to a dealer. Better yet go to a dealer and look at the schematics/expanded view of the centre section. There might be some inspection covers that can be removed for a visual inspection. Not sure how old your machine is but it is at least 7 years old now.... it could be as simple as just a leaky/blown hose from rubbing together or rubbing on something [that was the cause of one minor leak on my M-85] or an "O" ring either on a fitting or internally in a hydraulic circuit. A little trouble shooting could save you a bundle if just a hose or external O ring
Now that I think of it you may be able to find something on the internet for schematics or on YouTube for repairs.....worth a look any way

Hi all,
Update on the issue. I had a local tractor mechanic come and take a look as I wasn't able to see anything glaring me in the face. He climbed underneath and found the connecting rod from the pedal assembly had come unbolted and had lots of slop/play in it and wasn't engaging the actuator for the HST completely. The first image is of the elbow that had come loose. Tightened it up and forward and backward movement is like new again.

As for the leak. We found that there is a fitting on the top case where the lift cylinder is at that is noted as a drain plug with a breather screw. This was loose enough to unscrew using fingers. We tightened it up and fingers crossed that it is no longer leaking. Second image is of the "drain plug". Why would there be a drain plug on the top of the lift cylinder assembly?

Found my leak. What is the purpose of this “drain plug”. The fluid is spitting out from the center of the screw.
I’d add video but not sure I can.

Looks like a breather plug. Is the reservoir overfilled?
