Found this truck today. Great shape. Literally laughed and left. Look at what they are asking used, 21k miles.

Now look at the original window sticker. Car dealers have lost their minds.

Except people are buying them…
Craziness!

It's nuts but they'll probably get that. I looked up my 2019 GMC 2500 DMAX Denali on NADA last night and the current average trade-in is the original MSRP. I paid 10k less than that when I bought it new. I wouldn't have paid sticker when I bought it. I'll be keeping mine for a good while.

Sad part is auto insurers already adjusting renewal premiums to reflect higher prices...

Friend driving Bay Bridge yesterday was totaled... truck in front of her stopped... she stopped but truck behind do not stop fast enough.

Her 3 year old Lexus wedged/sandwiched between two trucks... she is ok but had to be pulled out through sunroof.

They are already facing not just sticker shock but limited availability... and this includes rental rates... she is a trauma nurse.

Yeah, prices are insane. Don't really need anything now, but my truck is getting "up there" in years and I'll probably be looking a couple years down the road. Did a quick search online for used ones, didn't see much of anything under $30k other than total junkers.

Your findings and mine are the same. Complete ridiculousness

IMHO it will get worse price wise unless the economy takes a big dump.If fuel prices continue to rise folks will dump PU trucks for better fuel mileage cars.

I sure won't. At work we were watching that when gas went this high in 2007ish and it didn't seem to happen with current owners. Can't speak to the car shoppers at the time, their focus may have been MPGs.

I'm hoping the Taco Wagon will last until I croak. Don't want to go thru the hassle and $$$ of another new vehicle.

I wouldnt worry Oosik, its all going to come crashing down soon.
Once interest rates go up later this year and next year, buying will slow way down and the covid excuses end, itll be a buyers market again.

Long ago the Forrest Service had Power Wagons. Two door - six cylinder. Used for lighting strike fires - rapid deployment - fire suppression. Thats where I learned to love those old vehicles. 400 gallon water tank and 36" hydraulically controlled single disk out back. Off we would go - cross country - disking and hosing small start ups. Summers between my JR - SR year in high school.

A lighting bolt would hit a steel T-post barbed wire fence. Could start a fire with a half mile front.

I was young - I was fearless - the days were long - the adrenaline flowed like a mighty river. Four of us young fellows on each power wagon. Driver - navigator - fire suppression - hydraulic disk operator.

Thee and me. My old '97 Chevy half-ton is in fact 'getting old'. Friends and family are constantly telling me "buy yourself a new or newer truck".

If I priced my used Chevy the way the fool company Banner Ford is pricing that 3/4 ton, I'd be asking more than the $15K that I paid when new. Although it only has 135K on the clock, tax value is only $684! I'm only driving about 2K per year on it though. Nah - my old truck is just fine for my limited needs. Banner can keep their pile of 'gold' right there on their lot and look at it every payday as far as I'm concerned. The day come come, soon I hope, that people will come to their senses.

If that was a Laramie or King Ranch, that price would be fair but for an XL, not so much.

I just can’t get over asking more than the original msrp for used. Just stupid

I belong to Ranger5g forum as well. Heard stories of getting more than they paid for truck on Carvana. Most were under 20k miles. My loaded 2019 Lariat Sport Supercrew I paid $38 before taxes. Now 24k miles, was offered $39.5 at one point. Some were $6k over what they paid. That's great, unless you need to buy another vehichle...

Yep. Inflation only works in your favor if liquidating an unneeded item.

Local big Morgan Hill Ford Store Presidents Day Sale says 160 new Ford's just in and as always NEVER a dealer markup.

Just posting for what it's worth plus incentives such as zero interest and various cash back with one being 750.00

Drive a little save a lot?

FYI, denigrating a specific dealer is against forum rules. Updated January 2022.

It is not just this particular dealer, it is industry wide. This is just one example of the stupidity in the auto industry
